Alex Trebek was born in in Ontario, Canada and became a U.S. citizen in 1998. Starting his career in Canadian broadcasting, Trebek hosted other game shows, including "Reach for the Top" and "Wizard of Odds" before Jeopardy. He died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 80.
