June 19, 1865

Juneteenth - "The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States [President Lincoln], all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of personal rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves..." It is estimated that 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Texas were freed, over 2 years after the Emancipation Declaration by Abraham Lincoln.

June 30, 1971

The 26th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution grants the right to vote to all American citizens 18 years of age or older, decreasing the age from 21 in many states.
