Feeling lucky?

I never know what to make of the word "luck" because it seems to infer some type of randomness to life. Maybe you'll be lucky. Maybe you won't. Let the cards fall as they may - is the gist of "luck" to me.

But to me, luck isn't random at all. Good luck, bad luck - none of that is random. To me, luck is an unfortunate Western translation for karma. I've had friends outright tell me they don't believe in karma. Sure, not everyone has to believe in karma, but just like gravity, it exists, family, regardless of whether you believe in it or not.

Karma is simply the law of cause and effect. As you send thoughts and actions into the universe, they go out perpetually until they eventually come back to you. On some level, as soon as an action is done, it is already done to you because time doesn't exist in the linear fashion we often think it does. Quite literally, any words and things you have done to others will or already have been done to you, and it would behoove you to always be aware of your thoughts and actions because at all times, you are sending boomerangs into the universe that are coming back to you.

When I first started to realize this, I had some amount of fear going through the mental files of all of the negative thoughts I've had about people and everything I've done like, "Yikes!" But it's important to deeply realize and come to an honest place about what type of emissions you have already sent out and are continuing to send out daily. If you are experiencing bad luck, I would urge you to consider from an honest place whether some of this might be karma.

Once you are aware of the vibrations you are and have been emitting, you can begin to change those frequencies, if you so desire. If you find yourself in a place of a lot of bad karma ripening upon you, one way to deal with it is to intentionally send out more good thoughts and actions into the universe. One way to do this is through repeating or chanting prayers, such as in japa meditation.

Sometimes, we like to write off people's good fortune as luck almost to say that the random chance of the draw is what gave them something we don't have. But I would like to consider today what it would look like to have good fortune that is actually a result of a lot of good karma.

I, for one, try to send good thoughts and actions into the world with the intention of improving my karma. And so, wishing you all a joyous day and congratulating you "lucky ones" who have good karma ripening upon you right now.

Wishing you all good karma,

Christina
