Etymology

Sanskrit Name: Tiryangmukha Eka Pada Paschimattanasana

English Translation: 3 Limbs Facing One Foot Intense Back of the Body Posture

Triang - 3 Limbs

Mukha - Facing

Eka - One

Paschima - Back of. the Body, West

Ut - Intense

Asana - Posture

How to:

  • Begin in Dandasana.

  • Internally rotate the thigh and bend the knee so that the calf is on the outside of the thigh.

  • Hold the left foot with both hands.

  • Fold on an exhale and hold for 5 breaths.

  • In an inhale, look up. Keep holding the foot as you exhale.

  • Repeat on the other side.
