The Purpose of Practice | Yoga Sutras I.12-14

Repeat and contemplate.

I.12 The vrittis are stilled by practice and non-attachment.

I.13 Practice is the effort of concentrating the mind.

I.14 Practice becomes firmly established when it has been cultivated without interruption and with devotion over a long period of time.

Consistency over Time

Practice is the action we can take to calm the fluctuations of our minds, creating internal harmony and peace. Practice takes concentration and focus.

It is not enough to practice one time or occasionally. Little result will come that way. Over a long period of consistent effort without interruption, practice becomes firmly established as a way of life within the practitioner and can truly take effect.
