Featured in The Indigo Issue of Liveology Yoga Magazine . As the Son of an Ophthalmologist, I have always had a keen sense of the definition of both sight and vision. It is only recently in my years of matured understanding that I have been able to adopt a more holistic appreciation and further expound upon the profound yet subtle differences between the two terms on both a physical and metaphysical level. From my personal “In-Sperience” please allow me to elucidate and offer deeper insight… Sight is what we are clearly able to perceive with the rods and cones of our eyes. The rods and cones are responsible for allowing us see with our own two eyes physically in front of and around us. Physical sight includes both foveal (straight ahead) and peripheral (side) “vision.” As a wearer of glasses since the age of nine, I figured I was not blessed with the gift of sight. However, I have always had a fun, interesting, and precocious creative imagination which I would over time appreciate more and more as I strengthened it through use of the muscles of my creative faculties. Sight while not absolutely necessary for navigating the physical world, does make things more convenient and delightful in many instances. Take the case of individuals with blindness who learn to navigate the world and adapt using heightened other senses and inner vision.
