- The 5 Pillars of Islam
An outline for the straight path. Photo by Izuddin Helmi Adnan Information The Five Pillars of Islam are the core beliefs and practices that shape the foundation of a Muslim’s faith and actions. They represent the essential duties every Muslim is expected to follow, serving as a guide for worship, morality, and daily living. These pillars are rooted in the teachings of the Qur'an and the Hadith. 1. Shahada (Faith) The Shahada is the declaration of faith: "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." This statement affirms the oneness of God (Tawhid) and the acceptance of Muhammad as His final prophet. Saying the Shahada sincerely, with understanding, is the first step into Islam. 2. Salat (Prayer) Salat refers to the five daily prayers that Muslims perform at specific times: dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset, and evening. These prayers are a direct link between the worshiper and Allah and include physical movements and verses from the Qur’an. Prayer reinforces discipline, mindfulness, and submission to God. 3. Zakat (Almsgiving) Zakat is the practice of giving a portion of one's wealth (usually 2.5% of savings annually) to those in need. It purifies wealth by acknowledging that all things ultimately belong to God. Zakat supports social justice, reduces poverty, and reminds Muslims of their duty to care for the less fortunate. 4. Sawm (Fasting) Sawm is fasting during the month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. From dawn to sunset, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that cultivates self-control, gratitude, and compassion for those who are hungry or in need. 5. Hajj (Pilgrimage) Hajj is a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, required once in a lifetime for every Muslim who is physically and financially able. It takes place annually during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah. Hajj is a profound act of worship that unites Muslims from around the world in equality, humility, and devotion to God. Together, these five pillars shape the ethical, spiritual, and communal life of Muslims and serve as the framework for worship and devotion in Islam. Scripture References Al-Fatihah 1-7 1 In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful. 2 All praise is for Allah—Lord of all worlds, 3 the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful, 4 Master of the Day of Judgment. 5 You alone we worship and You alone we ask for help. 6 Guide us along the Straight Path, 7 the Path of those You have blessed—not those You are displeased with, or those who are astray. 1 The Clear Quran translated by Dr. Mustafa Khattab Liveology® creates uplifting content and products for abundant life. - Habari Gani? Crucify the Flesh
Are you in need of a miracle? Photo by Josh Eckstein Monday, January 14, 2026 Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Today, the topic that is on my heart is the crucifixion and what it means to crucify the flesh. As I'm sure you already know, the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth was a literal event that occurred in Israel around 2,000 years ago. As Christians know, that was not the end of the story. The flesh may have been defeated for a short time, but soon he rose again in all glory. We will come to the 2,000 year anniversary of these events 7 years from now, in 2033. But story of the Christ, the crucixion and resurrection, is not a one time event that is now over. It lives on in believers all over the earth to this day. Everyone is called to take up their respective crosses and follow. This means that all of us are called to a sort of spiritual crucifixion that leads to resurrection in Christ and entry into the kingdom of heaven. All of us are born with a hard edge that needs to be sandpapered down, a tendency toward evil, or an inclination that we need to overcome. Some spend their whole lives and lean into their personal dysfunction. But some, who hear the gospel, understand that with the help of God, we too can do "greater things... if we just believe." That same Jesus (Yeshua) who healed the sick, allowed the blind to see, and raised the dead didn't just do that in the time he was living. It is still ongoing, even to this day in 2026. This is why the gospel of Jesus Christ is so powerful and why those who tap into it are so excited to tell others about this miraculous power. Anyone who has experienced it knows the story is very real, that miraculous healing is very real, and that transformation is very possible. But not everyone is willing to receive these miracles becasue not everyone is willing to be crucified. This is not a literal crucifixion on the cross. It is a spiritual crucifixion, an ego death, a death to the lower self in order to be filled up by the God energy, which Christians call the Holy Spirit. It is a letting of our evil tendencies and inclinations, repentance of the things we have done in the past that separated us from God and others, and a daily attempt to become more Christ-like every day. This is not easy, and it cannot be done through our own power or even good works. It is only by the power of God that we can overcome the flesh and live in the Spirit. But when we surrender our will, our bodies, our actions, and our entire lives to God, miracles truly happen. What do you need to surrender and allow God to crucify in your life? What miracle do you hope to receive on the other side of your resurrection? Journal Prompt: What do I need to allow God to crucify in your life? What do I need to let go of that I have been holding onto, though you know it does not benefit me? How can I move into increasing levels of discipline and self-control? Make it plain. I need God to work [this miracle] in my life. As always, wishing you abundant life, love, joy, peace, & prosperity. Love, Christina Victoria Mills Christina V. - Mecca
The holiest city in Islam. Photo by Ishan Location Saudi Arabia Information Mecca (also spelled Makkah) is the holiest city in Islam, located in present-day Saudi Arabia. It is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and the site of the Kaaba, the most sacred structure in Islam. Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world travel to Mecca to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, a central obligation for all able-bodied Muslims at least once in their lifetime. Photo by Yasmine Arfaoui According to Islamic tradition, Mecca’s sacred status began with the Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) and his son Ishmael (Ismail). They are believed to have built the Kaaba, the cube-shaped structure at the center of Mecca, as a house of monotheistic worship to the one God, Allah. Over time, however, the Kaaba became surrounded by idols, and Mecca became a center of polytheistic worship for many tribes in the Arabian Peninsula. The Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca around 570 CE into the Quraysh tribe. In 610 CE, he received his first revelations from the angel Gabriel and began preaching Islam, calling for the worship of one God and rejecting idolatry, injustice, and inequality. This message challenged the authority and economic interests of the Quraysh elite. As a result, Muhammad and his early followers faced intense persecution in Mecca. In 622 CE, they migrated to Medina in an event known as the Hijra, which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. Eight years later, Muhammad returned with a growing number of followers and peacefully conquered Mecca in 630 CE. He cleansed the Kaaba of idols and rededicated it to the worship of Allah. Today, Mecca is also a vibrant urban city that blends ancient heritage with modern infrastructure designed to support the vast number of pilgrims who visit annually. - Sleep
An essential biological process in which the body and mind enter a state of rest and reduced consciousness, allowing the body to recover, repair, and dream. Photo by Kate Stone Matheson Photo by Brett Jordan Sleep is a natural and essential biological process in which the body and mind enter a state of rest and reduced consciousness. During sleep, physical activity and responsiveness to the outside world decrease, allowing the brain and body to recover, repair, and regulate essential functions. It plays a vital role in maintaining health, cognitive performance, emotional balance, and overall well-being. Sleep Cycles Sleep occurs in cycles, typically lasting 90–110 minutes each, and this cycle repeats 4-6 times during a full night's sleep. Non-REM (NREM) sleep has three stages, from light to deep sleep, where the body repairs tissues, builds muscle and bone, and strengthens the immune system. REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep is the stage where most dreaming occurs. It is important for memory consolidation, learning, and emotional processing. Stage 1 (Non-REM): Falling asleep – transition from wakefulness to sleep. (about 1-7 minutes) Stage 2 (Non-REM): Deeper light sleep – heart rate and body temperature drop. (about 10-25 minutes) Stage 3 (Non-REM): Deep slow wave sleep – physical restoration, immune function, and growth occurs. (about 20-40 minutes) Stage 4 (REM): Dream sleep – brain activity increases, eyes move rapidly, muscles are temporarily paralyzed. (10-60 minutes) REM sleep is crucial for memory consolidation, emotional processing, learning, and creativity. The first REM phase occurs about 90 minutes after sleep begins and usually lasts 5–10 minutes. As the night progresses, REM phases become longer, lasting up to 30–60 minutes in later cycles. Most people experience 4–6 REM periods per night, accounting for about 20–25% of total sleep. Lack of quality sleep can lead to problems such as impaired memory, weakened immunity, mood disorders, and chronic health conditions. For most adults, 7–9 hours of sleep per night is considered ideal to ensure that your body has enough time to cycle through the stages and enter deep, restorative REM sleep multiple times. Sleep is not just rest—it’s an active, complex process that supports nearly every system in the body. Liveology® creates uplifting content and products for abundant life. - Rastafari
An Afrocentric spirituality that calls for liberation—of the mind, body, and spirit—through a return to African roots and a life grounded in righteousness, justice, and divine connection. Photo by Steve Johnson Information Rastafari, also known as the Rastafarian movement, is a spiritual and cultural ideology that originated in Jamaica in the 1930s. It developed among Afro-Jamaican communities who were seeking liberation from colonial oppression and the reclaiming of African identity. Rastafari is not a formal religion in the traditional sense; rather, it is a way of life that blends elements of Christianity, African spirituality, and social resistance. Central to the movement is the belief that Haile Selassie I, the former emperor of Ethiopia, is the earthly representation of God, whom Rastafarians call Jah, short for Jehovah. The name "Rastafari" comes from Ras Tafari Makonnen, the pre-coronation name of Haile Selassie. When he was crowned emperor of Ethiopia in 1930, many in Jamaica saw this as the fulfillment of a biblical prophecy about the return of a Black king who would lead African descendants to freedom. This belief was greatly influenced by the teachings of Marcus Garvey, a Jamaican political activist who promoted Black pride and the return to Africa. Though Garvey never claimed Haile Selassie was divine, his ideology laid the groundwork for the movement. Rastafarians interpret the Bible through an Afrocentric lens, often rejecting traditional Western or colonial Christian interpretations. They emphasize themes of oppression, exile, and liberation, seeing themselves as the true Israelites exiled in "Babylon"—a metaphor for the corrupt Western world. Rastafari promotes a return to Zion, which is spiritually and physically associated with Africa, particularly Ethiopia. This connection to Africa is not only symbolic but also literal for many Rastas who have emigrated there or continue to advocate for repatriation. A key feature of Rastafari is its lifestyle and cultural expressions. Many Rastas follow a natural and holistic way of living, including a vegetarian or ital diet, wearing locs (as a biblical symbol of strength and identity), and using ganja (cannabis) as a sacrament for spiritual meditation. Music—especially reggae, popularized globally by artists like Bob Marley—plays a vital role in spreading the movement’s messages of love, resistance, and redemption. Rastafari is diverse and non-hierarchical, with various mansions or sects, such as the Nyabinghi, Bobo Ashanti, and Twelve Tribes of Israel, each with unique interpretations and practices. Despite misunderstandings and stigmatization over the years, Rastafari has influenced global thought on identity, resistance, and spirituality. At its heart, it calls for liberation—of the mind, body, and spirit—through a return to African roots and a life grounded in righteousness, justice, and divine connection. - Stonehenge
A prehistoric monument with stones precisely aligned with the sunrise of the summer solstice and the sunset of the winter solstice. Photo by Robert Anderson Location: Wiltshire, England Information Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire, England, and is one of the most famous and mysterious archaeological sites in the world. It consists of a circular arrangement of massive standing stones—some weighing up to 25 tons—on a grassy plain. Archaeologists believe it was constructed in several stages, with the earliest parts dating back to around 3000 BCE. The exact purpose of Stonehenge is still debated, but it likely served as a ceremonial or religious site, possibly related to burial rituals, solar and lunar alignments, or seasonal observances. The stones are precisely aligned with the sunrise of the summer solstice and the sunset of the winter solstice, suggesting it may have functioned as a kind of astronomical calendar or sacred space for ancient people tracking the cycles of the heavens. Photo by Hulki Okan Tabak On the summer solstice, the sun rises directly over the heel stone, casting light into the heart of the monument. This alignment implies sun worship or a solar calendar, likely helping ancient peoples track time for agricultural or spiritual purposes. Excavations have revealed that Stonehenge was used as a burial site, particularly in its earlier phases. Cremated human remains dating back to around 3000 BCE have been found in nearby pits. This suggests it may have functioned as a sacred site for honoring the dead, possibly involving rituals of ancestor worship or transitions into the afterlife. Some archaeologists believe Stonehenge was seen as a place of healing. The nearby site of Bluestonehenge, and the fact that many of the stones were brought from Wales (especially the bluestones, believed to have healing properties), supports the theory that people may have traveled there for spiritual or physical restoration. Stonehenge likely served as a ritual center where communities came together for important ceremonies—whether honoring the gods, ancestors, or natural cycles. The immense effort required to build it also implies collective spiritual devotion, possibly involving chants, sacrifices, or seasonal festivals. Built by Neolithic peoples using rudimentary tools and incredible human effort, Stonehenge continues to captivate scholars, spiritual seekers, and tourists from around the world. - The Gospel of Mary | Chapter 4
An apocryphal book attributed to Mary Magdalene. Books of the Bible Photo by Shraga Kopstein Chapter 4 21 . . . Will matter then be destroyed or not? 22 The Savior said, "All nature, all formations, all creatures exist in and with one another, and they will be resolved again into their own roots. 23 For the nature of matter is resolved into the roots of its own nature alone. 24 He who has ears to hear, let him hear." 25 Peter said to him, "Since you have explained everything to us, tell us this also: What is the sin of the world?"
- The Holy Spirit
A member of the Holy Trinity that descended upon humanity after the death and resurrection of Jesus. The Promise of the Holy Spirit Acts 1:1-5 1 In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus did and taught from the beginning 2 until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. 3 After his suffering he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. 4 While staying with them, he ordered them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the promise of the Father. “This,” he said, “is what you have heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” The Ascension of Jesus Acts 1:6-11 6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 9 When he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. 11 They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” The Coming of the Holy Spirit Acts 2:1-12 1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. 5 Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. 6 And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. 7 Amazed and astonished, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power.” 12 All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13 But others sneered and said, “They are filled with new wine.” Peter Addresses the Crowd Acts 2:14-21 14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them, “Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say. 15 Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning. 16 No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel: 17 ‘In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. 18 Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. 19 And I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist. 20 The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord’s great and glorious day. 21 Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’

Jesus was a real person, a Jewish man born in the early 1st century AD in Bethlehem, Judea, and his life and teachings are primarily documented in the New Testament of the Bible, though texts outside the Bible confirm his existence. He was born to a young woman named Mary, a virgin, and her husband Joseph, a carpenter, though according to the gospels, Jesus was conceived not by Joseph but by the Holy Spirit. A Ministry that Changed the World Photo by Pisit Heng Jesus' early life is largely undocumented until around the age of 30, Jesus began his public ministry, preaching about love for God, each other, and even our enemies, compassion, forgiveness, and repentance, turning away from sin. He performed miracles, such as healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, expelling demons, and raising the dead. His teachings emphasized love for God and neighbor, the importance of forgiveness and humility, and the value of faith. The Sermon on the Mount with the Beatitudes is one of his most famous discourses, highlighting moral and ethical principles. While Jesus gained a large following during his lifetime, many hated him, including the Pharisees, who, in Biblical reports, were constantly testing him. Jesus preached until he was crucified by the Romans around 30-33 AD. On a Sunday, the third day after he was buried, reports began to surface that he was raised from the dead, walking, talking, and eating among the living fully embodied with the evidence of his crucifixion still visible, until he was taken into Heaven. People were so awestruck by his resurrection that Jesus' remaining 11 disciples (omitting Judas who betrayed him) began to spread the good news all over the Roman empire of his message and that the Messiah had come, as foretold in the Hebrew Scriptures, all over the Roman empire. While they initially preached to Jews, even non-Jews were compelled and excited about the gospel, and the disciples soon began sharing the gospel or Jesus Christ with everyone, thus beginning the Christian church. Jesus teachings were so transformational that our current calendar was reset for year 0 to begin in the year of his born. AD (anno domini) came to mean "In the year of our Lord" and BC meaning "before Christ." In modern times, many have begun use CE "common era" and BCE "before the common era," but even with these terms, the calendar stil begins the year Jesus was born. Photo by Jason Betz The Redeemer Jesus is seen as the physical representation of God the Most High on earth, Emmanuel, God with us, the ultimate Healer of all physical and mental afflictions and demonic possession, our greatest teacher, and the Lamb of God, sacrificed as the Redeemer for our sins. In Jewish tradition, sacrifices were offered at the Temple for forgiveness of sins. Interestingly, in AD 70, just decades after Jesus' death and resurrection, the Temple was destroyed by the Romans, thus ending all physical sacrifice, and another Temple has never been rebuilt in almost 2000 years. In this way, Jesus represents a new covenant in which we no longer have to offer physical sacrifice for our sins but that through his blood, Jesus paid the price once and for all, for all humanity. All one has to do is accept Jesus as your savior to receive this free gift of grace and redemption. (Jesus in the Quran) The Genealogy of Jesus the Messiah Matthew 1:1-17 1 An account of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham. 2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, 3 and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Aram, 4 and Aram the father of Aminadab, and Aminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, 5 and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, 6 and Jesse the father of King David. And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah, 7 and Solomon the father of Rehoboam, and Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asaph, 8 and Asaph a the father of Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah, 9 and Uzziah the father of Jotham, and Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, 10 and Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, and Manasseh the father of Amos, and Amos the father of Josiah, 11 and Josiah the father of Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon. 12 And after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Salathiel, and Salathiel the father of Zerubbabel, 13 and Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, and Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor, 14 and Azor the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud, 15 and Eliud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah. 17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the deportation to Babylon to the Messiah, fourteen generations. The Birth of Jesus the Messiah Matthew 1:18-25 18 Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man and unwilling to expose her to public disgrace, planned to dismiss her quietly. 20 But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 “Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means, “God is with us.” 24 When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took her as his wife, 25 but had no marital relations with her until she had borne a son; and he named him Jesus. The Visit of the Wise Men Matthew 2:1-12 1 In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.” 3 When King Herod heard this, he was frightened, and all Jerusalem with him; 4 and calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it has been written by the prophet: 6 ‘And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who is to shepherd my people Israel.’” 7 Then Herod secretly called for the wise men a and learned from them the exact time when the star had appeared. 8 Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child; and when you have found him, bring me word so that I may also go and pay him homage.” 9 When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star that they had seen at its rising, a until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw that the star had stopped, a they were overwhelmed with joy. 11 On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road. The Shepherds and the Angels Luke 2:8-15 8 In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: 11 to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, a the Lord. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. 17 When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. Jesus Is Presented in the Temple Luke 2:22-38 22 When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male shall be designated as holy to the Lord”), 24 and they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.” 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; a this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. 27 Guided by the Spirit, Simeon came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the law, 28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying, 29 “Master, now you are dismissing your servant in peace, according to your word; 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.” 33 And the child’s father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, “This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed 35 so that the inner thoughts of many will be revealed—and a sword will pierce your own soul too.” 36 There was also a prophet, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped there with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 At that moment she came, and began to praise God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem. The Boy Jesus in the Temple Luke 2:41-52 41 Now every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the festival of the Passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up as usual for the festival. 43 When the festival was ended and they started to return, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. 44 Assuming that he was in the group of travelers, they went a day’s journey. Then they started to look for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Child, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been searching for you in great anxiety.” 49 He said to them, “Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50 But they did not understand what he said to them. 51 Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in years, and in divine and human favor. Jesus Calls the First Disciples Luke 5:1-11 1 Once while Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, 2 he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” 6 When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” 9 For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish that they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.” 11 When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him. The Wedding at Cana John 2:1-11 1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” 4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6 Now standing there were six stone water jars for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the chief steward.” So they took it. 9 When the steward tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. Jesus Heals the Gerasene Demoniac Mark 5:1-20 1 They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. 2 And when he had stepped out of the boat, immediately a man out of the tombs with an unclean spirit met him. 3 He lived among the tombs; and no one could restrain him any more, even with a chain; 4 for he had often been restrained with shackles and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always howling and bruising himself with stones. 6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and bowed down before him; 7 and he shouted at the top of his voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” 8 For he had said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” 10 He begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now there on the hillside a great herd of swine was feeding; 12 and the unclean spirits begged him, “Send us into the swine; let us enter them.” 13 So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and were drowned in the sea. 14 The swineherds ran off and told it in the city and in the country. Then people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 They came to Jesus and saw the demoniac sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the legion; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen what had happened to the demoniac and to the swine reported it. 17 Then they began to beg Jesus to leave their neighborhood. 18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him. 19 But Jesus refused, and said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy he has shown you.” 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed. Feeding the Five Thousand John 6:1-15 1 After this Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, also called the Sea of Tiberias. 2 A large crowd kept following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing for the sick. 3 Jesus went up the mountain and sat down there with his disciples. 4 Now the Passover, the festival of the Jews, was near. 5 When he looked up and saw a large crowd coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, “Six months’ wages would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.” 8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, 9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?” 10 Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was a great deal of grass in the place; so they sat down, about five thousand in all. 11 Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 When they were satisfied, he told his disciples, “Gather up the fragments left over, so that nothing may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them up, and from the fragments of the five barley loaves, left by those who had eaten, they filled twelve baskets. 14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they began to say, “This is indeed the prophet who is to come into the world.” 15 When Jesus realized that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, he withdrew again to the mountain by himself. Jesus Walks on the Water Mark 6:45-52 45 Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After saying farewell to them, he went up on the mountain to pray. 47 When evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. 48 When he saw that they were straining at the oars against an adverse wind, he came towards them early in the morning, walking on the sea. He intended to pass them by. 49 But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out; 50 for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.” 51 Then he got into the boat with them and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, 52 for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened. Love for Enemies Luke 6:27-36 27 “But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 29 If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. 30 Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. The Transfiguration Luke 9:28 28 Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. 30 Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. 31 They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33 Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. 34 While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. 35 Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” 36 When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen. Jesus Raises Lazarus to Life John 11:17-44 17 When Jesus arrived, he found that Lazarus a had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, some two miles away, 19 and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them about their brother. 20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, while Mary stayed at home. 21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask of him.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. a Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, a the Son of God, the one coming into the world.” 28 When she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary, and told her privately, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” 29 And when she heard it, she got up quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come to the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. 31 The Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary get up quickly and go out. They followed her because they thought that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32 When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. 34 He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus began to weep. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?” 38 Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank you for having heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.” The Crucifixion of Jesus John 19:16-30 16 So they took Jesus; 17 and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha. 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus between them. 19 Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” 20 Many of the Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek. 21 Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘This man said, I am King of the Jews.’” 22 Pilate answered, “What I have written I have written.” 23 When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier. They also took his tunic; now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top. 24 So they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see who will get it.” This was to fulfill what the scripture says, “They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots.” 25 And that is what the soldiers did. Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home. 28 After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. The Resurrection of Jesus Matthew 28:1-10 1 After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he a lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, a and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ This is my message for you.” 8 So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” Physical Description Revelation 1: 12-16 12 Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands I saw one like the Son of Man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash across his chest. 14 His head and his hair were white as white wool, white as snow; his eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined as in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and from his mouth came a sharp, two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining with full force. But whoever among you denies afterwards will be subjected to a torment I have never inflicted on anyone of My creation.” 116 And ˹on Judgment Day˺ Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary! Did you ever ask the people to worship you and your mother as gods besides Allah?” He will answer, “Glory be to You! How could I ever say what I had no right to say? If I had said such a thing, you would have certainly known it. You know what is ˹hidden˺ within me, but I do not know what is within You. Indeed, You ˹alone˺ are the Knower of all unseen. 117 I never told them anything except what You ordered me to say: “Worship Allah—my Lord and your Lord!” And I was witness over them as long as I remained among them. But when You took me,1 You were the Witness over them—and You are a Witness over all things. ˹Jesus˺ declared, “I am truly a servant of Allah. He has destined me to be given the Scripture and to be a prophet. Liveology® creates uplifting content and products for abundant life. - Satan | The Accuser | The Fallen Angel
The outcast from Heaven, the god of this world, and deceiver of all humanity. Photo by DISRUPTIVO Other Names שָׂטָן :Hebrew ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ :Arabic Greek: διάβολος The Accuser Devil Beelzebul Shaitan The god of this world The most low Information Across the world, throughout time, humans have envisioned an idea of an evil entity with the goal of deterring humans from the path of righteousness through trials and temptations. In the Abrahamic religions, Satan is viewed as the Accuser, a prosecuting attorney of sorts and one of the highest ranking angels, whose apparent job was originally to test humans. We see in the Book of Job that God allows the Accuser to afflict a righteous man, Job, in order to see if Job will remain faithful. The Accuser is free to afflict Job with whatever he wants, the loss of children, the loss of wealth, the loss of reputation, even afflictions of physical illness. The only rule God has is, "as long as you don't kill him." Though it is not written in the Bible, some say that Satan was the father of Cain, the son of Adam and Eve, who committed the first murder by killing his brother Abel. At some point, it is said that this Accuser became prideful and defiant of God the Most High, seeing himself as equal to God, and was cast out of Heaven along with his followers for all eternity. In 2 Corinthians 4, Paul calls Satan the god of this world, who blinds the minds of unbelievers, preventing them from understanding the gospel of Jesus Christ. Now on earth, Satan continues to test humans with afflictions, discouragement, and temptations to try to get them to defy God with him or even to destroy or kill themselves. Satan is the ultimate liar, manipulator, shapeshifter, portraying good as bad and bad as good to confuse the ignorant into mistakenly following his path. " In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing clearly the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. " 2 Corinthians 4 As God is the Most High, Satan is the most low, in total opposition to everything that God represents. As God is the Creator, Satan is the destroyer. As God creates harmony out of chaos, Satan creates chaos out of harmony. As God is glorious and holy, Satan is evil and profane. Satan has no ability to create on his own and so all he can do is mimic God, as the ultimate and original counterfeit and illusionist. Even if they aren't consciously aware of it (though some are), anyone who lives in a way that is destructive, counterfeit, lying, cheating, stealing, manipulating, harming others, etc is a follower of Satanic forces. The sad part is that no matter how beautiful the illusion or whatever promises of earthly riches or fame Satan 0ffers, Satan is still a fallen angel, outcast of Heaven, anything gained from this path will always be temporary, and will always lead to destruction in the end. Satan is often said to be the prince of evil and ruler over lower demons who follow and worship him. These demons are the entities who can "get into people's heads" and negatively affect their thinking and behavior, cause physical affliction, mental illness, addiction, and more with the sole intention of killing, stealing from, and destroying humans. The goal, then, for humans is to resist these temptations, to resist discouragement from negative events that happen, by remaining close to God the Most High. No matter how far someone has gone in following the most low, God the Most High always offers us a hand up and a way out through Christ Jesus. Scripture References Satan Moved David to Number Israel Fourth Vision: Joshua and Satan The Temptation of Jesus Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection The Thousand Years & Satan's Doom Do not Worship Satan Satan Moved David to Number Israel 1 Chronicles 21:1-13 21:1 Satan (שָׂטָ֖ן | Satan} stood up against Israel, and incited David to count the people of Israel. 2 So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Go, number Israel, from Beer-sheba to Dan, and bring me a report, so that I may know their number.” 3 But Joab said, “May the LORD increase the number of his people a hundredfold! Are they not, my lord the king, all of them my lord’s servants? Why then should my lord require this? Why should he bring guilt on Israel?” 4 But the king’s word prevailed against Joab. So Joab departed and went throughout all Israel, and came back to Jerusalem. 5 Joab gave the total count of the people to David. In all Israel there were one million one hundred thousand men who drew the sword, and in Judah four hundred seventy thousand who drew the sword. 6 But he did not include Levi and Benjamin in the numbering, for the king’s command was abhorrent to Joab. 7 But God was displeased with this thing, and he struck Israel. 8 David said to God, “I have sinned greatly in that I have done this thing. But now, I pray you, take away the guilt of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.” 9 The LORD spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying, 10 “Go and say to David, ‘Thus says the LORD: Three things I offer you; choose one of them, so that I may do it to you.’” 11 So Gad came to David and said to him, “Thus says the LORD, ‘Take your choice: 12 either three years of famine; or three months of devastation by your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or three days of the sword of the LORD, pestilence on the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the territory of Israel.’ Now decide what answer I shall return to the one who sent me.” 13 Then David said to Gad, “I am in great distress; let me fall into the hand of the LORD, for his mercy is very great; but let me not fall into human hands.” Fourth Vision: Joshua and Satan Zechariah 3:1-6 3:1 Then he showed me the high priest Joshua {יְהוֹשֻׁעַ | Yehoshua} 2 standing before the angel of the LORD {יְהוָ֑ה | YHWH}, and Satan {הַשָּׂטָ֛ן | The Satan} standing at his right hand to accuse him. 2 And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, O Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this man a brand plucked from the fire?” 3 Now Joshua was dressed with filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. 4 The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.” And to him he said, “See, I have taken your guilt away from you, and I will clothe you with festal apparel.” 5 And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with the apparel; and the angel of the LORD was standing by. 6 Then the angel of the LORD assured Joshua , saying 7 “Thus says the LORD of hosts: If you will walk in my ways and keep my requirements, then you shall rule my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you the right of access among those who are standing here. 8 Now listen, Joshua, high priest, you and your colleagues who sit before you! For they are an omen of things to come: I am going to bring my servant the Branch. 9 For on the stone that I have set before Joshua, on a single stone with seven facets, I will engrave its inscription, says the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the guilt of this land in a single day. 10 On that day, says the LORD of hosts, you shall invite each other to come under your vine and fig tree.” The Temptation of Jesus Luke 4:1-12 4:1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing at all during those days, and when they were over, he was famished. 3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become a loaf of bread.” 4 Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone.’” 5 Then the devil led him up and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And the devil said to him, “To you I will give their glory and all this authority; for it has been given over to me, and I give it to anyone I please. 7 If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” 8 Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.’” 9 Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, 10 for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you,’ 11 and ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.’” 12 Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 13 When the devil had finished every test, he departed from him until an opportune time. Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection Matthew 16:21-23 16:21 From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and undergo great suffering at the hands of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This must never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; for you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.” The Thousand Years & Satan’s Doom Revelation 20: 7-15 7 When the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will come out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, in order to gather them for battle; they are as numerous as the sands of the sea. 9 They marched up over the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from heaven and consumed them. 10 And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. 11 Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sat on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books. 13 And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire; 15 and anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Do not Worship Satan Surah Maryam 19-42-45 (Quran) 42 ˹Remember˺ when he said to his father, “O dear father! Why do you worship what can neither hear nor see, nor benefit you at all? 43 O dear father! I have certainly received some knowledge which you have not received, so follow me and I will guide you to the Straight Path. 44 O dear father! Do not worship Satan {ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ ۖ | the Satan}. Surely Satan is ever rebellious against the Most Compassionate. 45 O dear father! I truly fear that you will be touched by a torment from the Most Compassionate, and become Satan’s companion ˹in Hell˺.” New Revised Standard Version Liveology® creates uplifting content and products for abundant life.
