- The Lord's Prayer
Jesus was playing in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples." He said to them, "When you pray, say: Father, your name is holy. May your kingdom come. Each day, give us food to eat And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us. And do not bring us to the time of trial." Luke 11:1-4
- Prayers for Ukraine | Clara T. Mills
Grace and peace to you. Again, my friend. This is Clara T Mills, Director of Operations Liveology Yoga Studios. I'm the mother of the founder, Christina Victoria, and I facilitate Manifestation Monday. On my Facebook page, I have in the background, that Ukrainian flag. Many of us are touched by the war that's going on there. And we have compassion and empathy to a great extent. But no one can really empathize with what it's like to have someone invade your world, unless that has actually happened to you. I want to offer some wishes for all of you who are listening today. Because I know that the source from which we all come is ever conspiring for our well being. And when we look at what our neighbors are experiencing in the Ukraine, it's difficult to understand that. But we must know on a fundamental level, that the source from which we all came is an ever present reality, even when it seems that evil has risen, its ugly head. And so I want to wish for all of us that peace, which passeth all understanding, you know, it is possible to be in the midst of a storm, and see the trees crumbling and see the earth shaking, and to have a sense of peace and calm, where we know that even in the midst of the storm, that all is well because God is with us. And then I wish for you joy and joy that enables you to look at whatever your circumstances are, and find something that you can celebrate, there's always something in your life that is worth being grateful for. And then I wish for all of us the ability to tap into the God within us. You know, one of my favorite stories is the Wizard of Oz. And I love it for a number of reasons. One of the reasons is because each of those characters, Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion, went down the yellow brick road dealing with all kinds of dangerous experiences in search of what they already had within them. My wish for you for each of us is that we tap into the God within us. And I want you to know that no matter what your experiences are, you are the best that God has made. I used to say that to my daughter when she was younger. And some people were troubled by that. I said it deliberately because he was a young black girl, who most of the schools she was she was in she was one of very few, and she was female. And I always wanted her to know that her ethnicity, her race and her gender were given to her by God, and were therefore some of her greatest resources. May you live knowing that you are the best that God has made. And everybody else is as well. But knowing that takes away the feeling of being a victim of looking at your circumstances and feeling sorry for yourself. And it also removes that spirit of competition. And I wish for you to be connected with the right people. Sometimes we're just we may be on the right bus, but the wrong people are on the bus with us in order to bring out the best of who you are. My hope is that you allow the God who created you, to connect you with the people who enable you to be your best self and you In turn, bring out the best and then me you live each day knowing that the God who created you is every second of every minute of every hour of every day, conspiring for your well being. - Philip
Philip is one of the 12 disciples of Jesus. Name: Philip Greek Name: Φίλιππος philippos English Translation: Friend of horses Information Brought Nathanael to Jesus Philip in the Bible Call Story John 1:43-46 John 1:43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” The Loaves of Bread & the Multitude John 6:4-7 4 Now the Passover, the festival of the Jews, was near. 5 When he looked up and saw a large crowd coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, “Six months’ wages would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.” Philip Asks to see the Father John 14:6-12 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. Philip and Simon the Magician Acts 8: 5-13 5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah to them. 6 The crowds with one accord listened eagerly to what was said by Philip, hearing and seeing the signs that he did, 7 for unclean spirits, crying with loud shrieks, came out of many who were possessed; and many others who were paralyzed or lame were cured. 8 So there was great joy in that city. 9 Now a certain man named Simon had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, saying that he was someone great. 10 All of them, from the least to the greatest, listened to him eagerly, saying, “This man is the power of God that is called Great.” 11 And they listened eagerly to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic. 12 But when they believed Philip, who was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Even Simon himself believed. After being baptized, he stayed constantly with Philip and was amazed when he saw the signs and great miracles that took place.

- When You Feel As Though God is Silent
Have you ever felt as though God was silent? Has it ever seemed as though God was merely standing on the sidelines of your life, passively observing, yet doing nothing actively to protect you, shelter you, or guide you? Have you ever felt as though God had not lived up to God’s promises and had instead written you a check that came back insufficient funds? When you feel as though God is silent, think on this: 1. That feeling that God is silent may result from the illusion that God is outside of us, when instead, God is within each of us! Too often we externalize God. We think of God as somewhere up there and out there. Intellectually externalizing God causes us to set ourselves up to be on this never-ending search for God. We go to “places of worship” or “sanctuaries” designated to encourage spiritual growth and reflection, in hopes of meeting God and experiencing God. And what we meet, instead, are other humans who merely reflect to us our own feelings of inadequacy, incompleteness, and longing for significance. When we perceive of God as outside of us, we constantly relinquish our power, because we look to others for direction and validation. While others may inspire, offer insights on spiritual truths, and provide a sense of community, the answers we seek outside of ourselves, are only to be found when we “get in touch” with the God within. When we wake up in the morning, God is there! When we close our eyes to sleep, God is there! In our moments of disappointment and mishaps, God is there! There is never any separation between us and God! The thought of our separation from God is merely an illusion. 2. Perhaps our worlds are so loud, filled with so many external distractions, that for us to hear God we must deliberately “tune out” in order to “tune in”. One poet wrote, “Look back and thank God. Look forward and trust God. Look around and serve God. Look within and find God. Looking to find God outside of ourselves causes us to be vulnerable to other’s social and political agendas, theological biases, and personal preferences. 3. Perhaps the reason we think and feel God is silent is because God is speaking in ways that are unfamiliar to us. God speaks to us in so many ways! God speaks through the Christian Bible, the Judaic Torah, the Islamic Quran, the Buddhist Sutras, and others. God speaks through our moments of meditation and quiet reflection. God speaks through the beauty of nature! God speaks through our observations of the ways in which our pets interact with us and the world about them. God speaks to us through what initially seemed as a “perchance encounter with a stranger” but was proved to be more a “divine encounter”, producing life enhancing results. God is always speaking! Our task is to discover the medium through which God is speaking to us - where we are - here and now.
- The Wesleyan Prayer
I am no longer my own, but yours. I am no longer my own, but yours. Put met to what you will, rank me with whom you will; put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed by you or laid aside by you, enabled for you or brought low by you. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to your pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you are mine, and I am yours. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen. by John Wesley
- The Covenant Renewed in Moab | Deuteronomy 29
The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the revealed things belong to us and to our children forever, to observe all the words of this law. The Books of the Bible The Covenant Renewed in Moab Deuteronomy. 29:2 Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: You have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, 3 the great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders. 4 But to this day the LORD has not given you a mind to understand, or eyes to see, or ears to hear. 5 I have led you forty years in the wilderness. The clothes on your back have not worn out, and the sandals on your feet have not worn out; 6 you have not eaten bread, and you have not drunk wine or strong drink—so that you may know that I am the LORD your God. 7 When you came to this place, King Sihon of Heshbon and King Og of Bashan came out against us for battle, but we defeated them. 8 We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. 9 Therefore diligently observe the words of this covenant, in order that you may succeed in everything that you do. 10 You stand assembled today, all of you, before the LORD your God—the leaders of your tribes, your elders, and your officials, all the men of Israel, 11 your children, your women, and the aliens who are in your camp, both those who cut your wood and those who draw your water— 12 to enter into the covenant of the LORD your God, sworn by an oath, which the LORD your God is making with you today; 13 in order that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he promised you and as he swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. 14 I am making this covenant, sworn by an oath, not only with you who stand here with us today before the LORD our God, 15 but also with those who are not here with us today. 16 You know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed. 17 You have seen their detestable things, the filthy idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold, that were among them. 18 It may be that there is among you a man or woman, or a family or tribe, whose heart is already turning away from the LORD our God to serve the gods of those nations. It may be that there is among you a root sprouting poisonous and bitter growth. 19 All who hear the words of this oath and bless themselves, thinking in their hearts, “We are safe even though we go our own stubborn ways” (thus bringing disaster on moist and dry alike)— 20 the LORD will be unwilling to pardon them, for the LORD’S anger and passion will smoke against them. All the curses written in this book will descend on them, and the LORD will blot out their names from under heaven. 21 The LORD will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for calamity, in accordance with all the curses of the covenant written in this book of the law. 22 The next generation, your children who rise up after you, as well as the foreigner who comes from a distant country, will see the devastation of that land and the afflictions with which the LORD has afflicted it— 23 all its soil burned out by sulfur and salt, nothing planted, nothing sprouting, unable to support any vegetation, like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD destroyed in his fierce anger— 24 they and indeed all the nations will wonder, “Why has the LORD done thus to this land? What caused this great display of anger?” 25 They will conclude, “It is because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their ancestors, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt. 26 They turned and served other gods, worshiping them, gods whom they had not known and whom he had not allotted to them; 27 so the anger of the LORD was kindled against that land, bringing on it every curse written in this book. 28 The LORD uprooted them from their land in anger, fury, and great wrath, and cast them into another land, as is now the case.” 29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the revealed things belong to us and to our children forever, to observe all the words of this law. - Jesus Commissions the Disciples & Ascends | Mark 16
Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The Books of the Bible Jesus Commissions the Disciples 14 Later he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were sitting at the table; and he upbraided them for their lack of faith and stubbornness, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. 15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. 16 The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” The Ascension of Jesus 19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it. - Noah
Built the ark. Information Hebrew Name: נֹחַ Noach English Translation: Rest Known For: Built the ark Brought humanity and animals through the great flood Trusted God Mentioned in: Genesis Scripture References The Genealogy of Noah Gen. 5:25-32 25 When Methuselah had lived one hundred eighty-seven years, he became the father of Lamech. 26 Methuselah lived after the birth of Lamech seven hundred eighty-two years, and had other sons and daughters. 27 Thus all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty-nine years; and he died. 28 When Lamech had lived one hundred eighty-two years, he became the father of a son; 29 he named him Noah, saying, “Out of the ground that the LORD has cursed this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the toil of our hands.” 30 Lamech lived after the birth of Noah five hundred ninety-five years, and had other sons and daughters. 31 Thus all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy-seven years; and he died. 32 After Noah was five hundred years old, Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. God Asks a Righteous Man to Build an Ark Gen. 6:9-22 9 These are the descendants of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God saw that the earth was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon the earth. 13 And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence because of them; now I am going to destroy them along with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. 15 This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16 Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above; and put the door of the ark in its side; make it with lower, second, and third decks. 17 For my part, I am going to bring a flood of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19 And of every living thing, of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. 20 Of the birds according to their kinds, and of the animals according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground according to its kind, two of every kind shall come in to you, to keep them alive. 21 Also take with you every kind of food that is eaten, and store it up; and it shall serve as food for you and for them.” 22 Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him. God's Covenant with Noah After the Flood Genesis. 8:20 - 9:1-17 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And when the LORD smelled the pleasing odor, the LORD said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of humankind, for the inclination of the human heart is evil from youth; nor will I ever again destroy every living creature as I have done. 22 As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” 9:1 God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. 2 The fear and dread of you shall rest on every animal of the earth, and on every bird of the air, on everything that creeps on the ground, and on all the fish of the sea; into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and just as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 Only, you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. 5 For your own lifeblood I will surely require a reckoning: from every animal I will require it and from human beings, each one for the blood of another, I will require a reckoning for human life. 6 Whoever sheds the blood of a human, by a human shall that person’s blood be shed; for in his own image God made humankind. 7 And you, be fruitful and multiply, abound on the earth and multiply in it.” 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 “As for me, I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the domestic animals, and every animal of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark. 11 I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the rainbow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.” Liveology Yoga Studios creates uplifting content for your whole life. - Those Excluded from the Assembly | Deuteronomy 23
If you make a vow to the LORD your God, do not postpone fulfilling it. The Books of the Bible Those Excluded from the Assembly Deuteronomy 23:1 No one whose testicles are crushed or whose penis is cut off shall be admitted to the assembly of the LORD. 2 Those born of an illicit union shall not be admitted to the assembly of the LORD. Even to the tenth generation, none of their descendants shall be admitted to the assembly of the LORD. 3 No Ammonite or Moabite shall be admitted to the assembly of the LORD. Even to the tenth generation, none of their descendants shall be admitted to the assembly of the LORD, 4 because they did not meet you with food and water on your journey out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam son of Beor, from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you. 5 (Yet the LORD your God refused to heed Balaam; the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loved you.) 6 You shall never promote their welfare or their prosperity as long as you live. 7 You shall not abhor any of the Edomites, for they are your kin. You shall not abhor any of the Egyptians, because you were an alien residing in their land. 8 The children of the third generation that are born to them may be admitted to the assembly of the LORD. Sanitary, Ritual, and Humanitarian Precepts 9 When you are encamped against your enemies you shall guard against any impropriety. 10 If one of you becomes unclean because of a nocturnal emission, then he shall go outside the camp; he must not come within the camp. 11 When evening comes, he shall wash himself with water, and when the sun has set, he may come back into the camp. 12 You shall have a designated area outside the camp to which you shall go. 13 With your utensils you shall have a trowel; when you relieve yourself outside, you shall dig a hole with it and then cover up your excrement. 14 Because the LORD your God travels along with your camp, to save you and to hand over your enemies to you, therefore your camp must be holy, so that he may not see anything indecent among you and turn away from you. 15 Slaves who have escaped to you from their owners shall not be given back to them. 16 They shall reside with you, in your midst, in any place they choose in any one of your towns, wherever they please; you shall not oppress them. 17 None of the daughters of Israel shall be a temple prostitute; none of the sons of Israel shall be a temple prostitute. 18 You shall not bring the fee of a prostitute or the wages of a male prostitute into the house of the LORD your God in payment for any vow, for both of these are abhorrent to the LORD your God. 19 You shall not charge interest on loans to another Israelite, interest on money, interest on provisions, interest on anything that is lent. 20 On loans to a foreigner you may charge interest, but on loans to another Israelite you may not charge interest, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all your undertakings in the land that you are about to enter and possess. 21 If you make a vow to the LORD your God, do not postpone fulfilling it; for the LORD your God will surely require it of you, and you would incur guilt. 22 But if you refrain from vowing, you will not incur guilt. 23 Whatever your lips utter you must diligently perform, just as you have freely vowed to the LORD your God with your own mouth. 24 If you go into your neighbor’s vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes, as many as you wish, but you shall not put any in a container. 25 If you go into your neighbor’s standing grain, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor’s standing grain. - Laws Concerning Marriage and Divorce | Deuteronomy 24
When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, do not glean what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow. The Books of the Bible Laws Concerning Marriage and Divorce Deuteronomy 24:1 Suppose a man enters into marriage with a woman, but she does not please him because he finds something objectionable about her, and so he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house; she then leaves his house 2 and goes off to become another man’s wife. 3 Then suppose the second man dislikes her, writes her a bill of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house (or the second man who married her dies); 4 her first husband, who sent her away, is not permitted to take her again to be his wife after she has been defiled; for that would be abhorrent to the LORD, and you shall not bring guilt on the land that the LORD your God is giving you as a possession. Miscellaneous Laws 5 When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be charged with any related duty. He shall be free at home one year, to be happy with the wife whom he has married. 6 No one shall take a mill or an upper millstone in pledge, for that would be taking a life in pledge. 7 If someone is caught kidnaping another Israelite, enslaving or selling the Israelite, then that kidnaper shall die. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. 8 Guard against an outbreak of a leprous skin disease by being very careful; you shall carefully observe whatever the levitical priests instruct you, just as I have commanded them. 9 Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam on your journey out of Egypt. 10 When you make your neighbor a loan of any kind, you shall not go into the house to take the pledge. 11 You shall wait outside, while the person to whom you are making the loan brings the pledge out to you. 12 If the person is poor, you shall not sleep in the garment given you asa the pledge. 13 You shall give the pledge back by sunset, so that your neighbor may sleep in the cloak and bless you; and it will be to your credit before the LORD your God. 14 You shall not withhold the wages of poor and needy laborers, whether other Israelites or aliens who reside in your land in one of your towns. 15 You shall pay them their wages daily before sunset, because they are poor and their livelihood depends on them; otherwise they might cry to the LORD against you, and you would incur guilt. 16 Parents shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their parents; only for their own crimes may persons be put to death. 17 You shall not deprive a resident alien or an orphan of justice; you shall not take a widow’s garment in pledge. 18 Remember that you were a slave in Egypt and the LORD your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this. 19 When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be left for the alien, the orphan, and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all your undertakings. 20 When you beat your olive trees, do not strip what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow. 21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, do not glean what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow. 22 Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I am commanding you to do this. - How to Create a Yoga Flow for Yourself at Home
There are tons of ways to set up a yoga sequence. If you’re stuck, here are a few of our favorite methods. Some Ideas... Sit Down, Breathe & Check in with Yourself. Before beginning a home practice, take a moment to check in with yourself. How are you feeling? Is there an area of the body that is sore or tight? That's always a great place to start. So sit in Padmasana with the legs crossed and the back upright, and just breathe for a few moments. Yoga is so much more than asana practice, and much of the tension we hold in our bodies is related to emotional state and thought patterns. So much of yoga can be practiced before you even start moving. Move Freely Without Inhibition Maybe your heart is extra open right now or you’ve been working on your tight shoulders. You can pick pretty much anything and move intentionally around it. You can pick an area of the body, a muscle group, or a chakra and run with it. The key is to move intentionally and to sync breath to movement. Say you have tight shoulders. Simply lifting the arms and lowering them to your breath can be practice. Move slowly and allow the breath to guide you. Maybe this is totally free movement. Maybe it looks kind of like a dance. Sometimes it even feels good to stamp the feet or shake the limbs. It's great if you can find some alone time to move in ways that may "look ugly" but actually feel amazing. Sometimes the ugly movement is truly what you need. Focus on the feeling and go from there. Plan a Sequence Toward a Challenge Pose Pick a challenge pose like handstand, and practice it daily or at least a few times a week. Think about what poses and exercises would help lead you toward achieving that challenge pose. For Handstand, Downward Dog Pushups and half handstand with the legs up the wall are good options. You may also add in targeted mobility exercises. If you try this, it's good to start off by just building a short sequence that you repeat. Add only a few asana leading up to your pose. And then repeat them. The second time, add dynamic movement or add your personal touch. Cool Down It's so easy to forget about this part, and it's important to add a cool down after any exercise, not just yoga. The cool down can help to relax the nervous system so you don't leave your practice feeling wired. Great postures to cool down in are inversions like shoulderstand and anything that puts the feet over the head or allow you to be in a supine position. Examples Shoulderstand Headstand Halasana Matsyasana Rest Lay on your back with your palms facing upward for a few minutes after your practice. Having the hands upward is a position of receptivity, and laying on the back allows the nervous system to calm down. This posture also allows the spiritual or energetic body to enter into a special state of connection to the divine, which allows for deep restoration and healing throughout the physical body, helping the body to recover from practice in minutes. It is advised to rest for at least 5 minutes, but up to 15 minutes can be needed after a long or physically demanding practice to properly recover. When you rise from rest, often called Savasana (corpse pose) or Sukhasana (the act of no asana), feeling rested and refreshed, it will almost feel like waking from a deep sleep. This is where you feel the beautiful, clear, and bright feeling often called the “yogi high.” Reflect The moments after asana practice can be the perfect time to meditate, read, and journal as the mind is sattvic, peaceful and clear. In your newfound clarity, your practice may illuminate parts of yourself and your life of which you may have been previously unaware. Never fear these realizations. These are gifts to help you see more clearly and make the best choices possible with more information. It’s a great idea to write these realizations down as they come, so you can go back to them later. A Generic Sample Flow Any well balanced practice, regardless of the theme or style should have a beginning, middle, and end. What is the warmup? What is the peak, and how will you wind down? Check-In Padmasana (Lotus) Deep breathing Self Check in Calming the mind Setting Intentions Japa meditation/chanting Warmup Sun Salutations Begin syncing breath to movement Arching and rounding the back, maybe even adding circles Standing Postures Peak (The middle of your practice can be anything you want it to be!) Asana toward a peak pose Adding dynamic movement to asana Free movement with or without music Following a pre-planned sequence Wind Down Backbends Inversions Pranayama/Breathing exercises Rest
