He set this aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it. 16 Therefore do not let anyone condemn you in matters of food and drink or of observing festivals, new moons, or sabbaths. 17 These are only a shadow of what is to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Do not let anyone disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, dwelling on visions, puffed up without cause by a human way of thinking, 19 and not holding fast to the head, from whom the whole body, nourished and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows with a growth that is from God. Warnings against False Teachers 20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the universe, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations, 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch”? 22 All these regulations refer to things that perish with use; they are simply human commands and teachings. 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-imposed piety, humility, and severe treatment of the body, but they are of no value in checking self-indulgence. Featured in The Liberation Issue of Liveology Yoga Magazine. The Liberation issue of Liveology Yoga Magazine Drops July 1, 2022. If one of us is not free, we are not free. Free your mind and the rest will follow. As July is the month of Independence Day in the United States, it feels relevant to address what liberation truly means as we live it out in the world. The Liberation Issue is focused on freeing our minds and then freeing our lives and the world around us. I was that person who suddenly sold my home and most of my belongings, drove across the country with my dog, and changed my life over to yoga, believing this was my moment of liberation. I would never tell anyone not to do this, but if you suddenly feel the need to flip tables and become a yoga nomad, be sure to have a plan and some type of support system. On deep level, I made these major changes after what I considered a major “life crisis” with the belief that my life was deeply flawed and that I needed to take bold action to fix it. While this worked out for me in the long run, I came to the realization that even though I went on a fun journey of exploration, nothing was actually wrong with me or my life in the first place. The belief that my life was fundamentally flawed, in itself, was the error. When I look back, even in the moments of pain and emotional discomfort, everything that happened actually flowed pretty perfectly for my awakening and spiritual growth. Years after my big moment of liberation, my mind is continuing to become more liberated by the day. As we give ourselves the freedom to experience breadth and depth of life with non-judgement, as we give ourselves the freedom to step out and try and maybe fail, and love ourselves along the way, it becomes easy to extend that freedom, that grace, and that love to others. This compassion and grace for self and others, to me, is the heart of yoga practice. For the Liberation Issue, we feature cover yogi Micheal Sinclair in a beautiful handstand in front of the Washington Monument, who talks about Liberation & Death. Other inspiring stories include a journey into medicine, “Zen to War”, and “Mind over Matter,” which tells us that the heart and soul of liberation is freeing the mind. As the war on Ukraine persists, we also invited a fellow Ashtanga yoga practitioner from Ukraine to share her perspective. We extend prayers and metta for their liberation and healing. Just days before publishing this issue, Roe v. Wade was overturned, so at the last minute, I added a thoughtful reflection called “Let’s Evolve.” The message of this issue is simply this: If one of us is not free, we are not free. As always, the Liberation Issue wouldn’t be complete without interactive journal prompts and games along the way that make the print edition a fun experience that I hope you will enjoy. We're Keeping this Rolling We were so excited to turn this dream into reality and when we printed the 1st edition of Liveology Yoga Magazine for nationwide distribution in June 2021! Just weeks before we released the 1st issue, we had the deal of a lifetime to open up a physical studio in Atlanta. The space was literally free to us for the first couple of months until we started to make money. We had so much fun and shared Ashtanga yoga and other amazing practices like Capoeira Angola with a lot of people, but were pretty distracted from the initial goal of producing Liveology Yoga Magazine monthly. We ended up producing follow-up issues in January 2022 and June 2022. Now that we have closed the physical studio, we are refocusing on the initial goal of producing monthly issues and increasing distribution to stores nationwide. For many gave false testimony against him, and their testimony did not agree. I'm your friendly neighborhood yoga teacher and the founder of Liveology Yoga Studios & Magazine. The story of Liveology goes far beyond yoga as I try to answer: What are the keys to living a vibrant life? More Life. More Yoga. I came up with the name Liveology many years ago when I used to practice Christian ministry. We use the tagline "More Life. More Yoga" because yoga has the ability to make you feel better every time you do it. Yoga helps you to feel stronger, more balanced and more aware of your body. As yoga allows you to focus your energy, it helps you to live into the best version of yourself. If you've ever thought to yourself, "There has to be more to life than this." You're absolutely right. Yoga has turned my life from black & white into increasingly full color and has helped me to find the clarity and tools for personal empowerment that I was looking for. I practice Ashtanga yoga in Atlanta, GA and teach yoga as a tool of healing, transformation, and spiritual growth having personally experienced the healing effects on my body and mind after a car accident. Even after the yoga practice brought me "back to normal," I began to feel better, happier, and more clear-headed, than I ever had before. Yoga enabled me to enjoy simply being alive in a way I never knew was possible. I am very grateful to God, to my family, teachers and all the people who helped turn this dream into a reality, and to myself for sticking with my yoga practice and allowing it to change me.
