- Let's Bring Back Femininity! Long Dresses. Swing Skirts. Modesty!
Modesty is surprisingly sexy. Peace family this is Christina, and I am in my pretty dress. I've been wearing dresses more often and enjoying expressing my more feminine side, my femininity, and so I wanted to talk about: Let's bring back femininity! By femininity I don't mean sexualness like being sexy. Obviously I think I look sexy. I get compliments all the time. I've been wearing a lot more dresses, a lot more long dresses and a lot more modest clothing actually, and you'd be surprised the compliments I get from men who are like, "You look so beautiful. Wow like you look gorgeous!" Men can still see your figure. They're still looking regardless of what you wear. So there's something about true femininity to me that is actually more modest, that's like let me actually hide a little bit, let me keep something to the imagination, let me save something for a special person as opposed to showing everything to everyone. I think there's something to that, and so I've been celebrating my own femininity by just wearing like more modest clothing and wearing more dresses. And so I was laughing because I was actually shopping with my mom today and ended up buying a cute full length, to the floor skirt and was laughing because there used to be a section with casual dresses, and I love casual dresses, but they didn't have that section where they used to have it. That section of those dresses was gone, and where they had the second section, it was greatly reduced and then instead of just dresses it was like a lot of like rompers, where instead of being like a skirt it would be pants. I was really thinking it feels like even amongst like the designers, they're trying to make everyone be the same, like they're trying to make everyone kind of gender neutral. If you want to be gender neutral, that's what you want to do, but I like being a girl, like a girl girl, like a real girl, like a girly girl and wearing dresses and skirts, and I wear them frequently, a lot of the time now and I thought it was odd that it's getting harder to find full length dresses nowadays. You can find like full length rompers or jumpsuits, you can find some shorter dresses, but it just feels like whoever's designing even the clothes are trying to make it so that everyone's kind of the same. Everyone wears jeans, everyone wears t-shirts, everyone has the same kind of gender neutral look I get it like I used to wear jeans all the time right, but now I have a jean skirt, and my friend was laughing at me like, "I haven't seen a jean skirt like that since the '90s!" And I'm like, "Right, let's bring it back! Let's bring it back!" We want to bring back everything else. Let's bring back femininity. Let's bring back dresses. Let's bring back full length dresses like gowns and stuff. Let's like dress up. I feel like I look cute, and I get compliments all the time, like "Wow you look so feminine! You look so beautiful. You look like a woman." I was telling my mom like I felt like I was in this kind of like Peter Pan like state. I used to call myself Peter Pan. like I'll add some video of me like doing yoga and stuff, and I felt like I was like, if you ever know anything about Ashtanga Yoga, it was literally made for teenage boys, literally it was designed for teenage boys in like military school and then women started doing it. Mad respect to one of my teachers Kino MacGregor, who was one of the first women, if not the first woman to prove that women can even do it. They thought women couldn't even do it for a long time, and she was determined to prove that it can be done, and so for a long time, I idolized her and really was trying to show what I could do with my body physically, and I'm still really strong and all that, flexible. I was in my yang energy you know what I mean, like my masculine yang energy, and that's good I think at that time. I needed to learn how to be strong in a way that I was not strong, but now I'm enjoying embracing my more yin energy, my more feminine energy. Maybe we just go through seasons. I'm not saying everyone has to be a certain way, but I'm saying that for me, it's exciting to bring back my femininity and bring back my dresses and my long skirts and like all that kind of stuff. It just it's awesome. I feel great. So I was just laughing how it's becoming harder to find these things, like this dress is actually from Amazon. It's so hard to find these things in stores nowadays. If you want to dress more modestly or if you want to wear dresses, I can go to like Ethiopian like Muslim stores, you can find a lot of this kind of stuff. Other than that, if you go to regular stores, you can find like short dresses like knee length dresses or you can find long pants, jumpsuits. It's hard to find full length dresses nowadays, but I feel like it's just so cute, and it's actually a lot more easy breezy. It's cool but like warm at the same time. If you haven't been wearing some full length dresses, you might really like it. So anyway, I just wanted to celebrate my womanhood and how much I'm enjoying just being a woman right now, and kind of growing into that. I feel like growing out of my Peter Pan stage, like I'm never going to grow up to full you know full red blooded American woman like. It just feels good, and so I'm enjoying wearing my dresses and just wanted to talk about bringing back femininity, bringing back the dresses and the skirts, and all of that. For those people who want to be gender neutral, that's so awesome, but for those of us who want to be like girly like let's bring it back! That's all I want to talk about today. It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood! I think it's going to rain later, so we're just taking our little walk. - Making Sourdough Starter. A 6 Day Journey from an Empty Jar to Fresh Bread.
From an empty jar to fresh bread. I learned that you can pull yeast out of the air and make your own sourdough starter to make bread from anytime! Super excited to give this a try. Follow my 6 day journey. All I did was add equal parts by weight flour and liquid. For me this was about 2 T liquid and 3 T flour. The first day I added lemon juice, and every day after that, I added spring water. I was told not to use tap water because the chlorine prevents yeast growth. I left the lid on loosely and mixed it a few times a day. How’d it go? Full Video Transcript All right peace family this is Christina, and today I'm going to do something super fun. I'm going to make my first ever sourdough starter! I am an intermediate baker. I've been baking since I was a teenager. I learned how to make pies and biscuits and things like that cookies, cupcakes,all that good stuff, and it's always been kind of a sporadic thing. Recently I've been baking a few times a week, and I'm really enjoying having fresh rolls and fresh biscuits and all that kind of stuff. I've been watching YouTube, and I found this recipe for making your own sourdough starter, literally making your own yeast out of the air. Up until now, I've been using just active dry yeast, but even if you can't go to the store, you can pull yeast from the air just from using just wheat that you have or potatoes. I think that's super exciting. Also once you have your starter, you pretty much have like an ongoing supply of yeast to make bread. All you do is just add equal parts by weight of flour and water or some type of juice on the first day and water after that. I'm going to use lemon juice and we're going to see how that goes. You could use grapefruit juice or lemon juice or lime juice. I just happen to have a lemon on hand, so I'm going to use that equal parts by weight flour and water or juice and then every day for five days keep adding that same amount. Afew times a day, mix up and just make sure that it's in a nice safe place. I'm going close it but not have it super tight and then hopefully after 5 days I'm going to have a nice big bubbly mason jar of yeast! Wish me luck. Hopefully it will be successful, and then at the end of this video I'm going to bake my first sourdough bread off of it and um we're gonna see how this goes. Ingredients 3T Flour daily 2T Spring Water daily (avoid tap or chlorinated water) (Optional) 2T Acidic juice (pineapple, lemon, lime, grapefruit) on 1st day ONLY Jar with lid that allows air in Recipe Leave your sourdough starter on the counter. Day 1 Add flour and water (or juice). Mix well a couple times a day. Day 2 Add flour and water. Mix well a couple times a day. Day 3 Add flour and water. Mix well a couple times a day. Day 4 Add flour and water. Mix well a couple times a day. Day 5 Add flour and water. Mix well a couple times a day. Day 6 Add flour and water. Mix well a couple times a day. (optional) By Day 5 you should have a bubbly batch of sourdough starter. You can bake with it on day 5, but the yeast will get stronger over time, so you may choose to wait a few days. If you bake daily, you may choose to leave your starter on the counter, but otherwise put it in the refrigerator, and take it out the night before you plan to use it. I have a dream today. I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation. Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition. In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children. It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges. But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. They have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone. As we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied, as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating "For Whites Only". We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream. I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair. I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together. This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day. This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring." And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania! Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado! Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California! But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia! Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee! Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring. And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!" - How to Tie a Front Spiral Headwrap
One of my favorite ways to tie my turban. Peace family it's Christina and today I wanted to show you guys one of my favorite ways to tie my turban. I get a lot of compliments on this one and so I thought I would just show you guys how I do it Undercap So the first thing you'll notice is that I have on this undercap, and I like to wear this undercap because it separates the hair from your pretty scarves. So if you put products in your hair or like to oil your scalp or whatever you do that way it doesn't get on the actual scarf and you don't have to wash them every single time. In this one, my hair is braided flat, but you can always put your hair in a bun. Front Spiral Put the scarf over your head and even out the sides, making sure that the back of the head is totally covered. Take the front two tails and then knot them together on the top of the head. This is our base. Twist one of the sides and then loop it around. Don't take it all the way around And then we're going to take the second one and do the same thing so I'm twisting it down and then loop it around. This one to take all the way around keep twisting it as you go and then tuck it in the base of the bun. Then do the same thing with the other one. And that is it! It's super fast super easy. - Man's Laws Do Not Supercede God's Spiritual Laws
Don't fool yourself. Is it my first morning show? Today is Friday, February 9, and as a recap to this week's messages, on the media and clearing our mind, talking about how earthly laws and spiritual laws are not the same. Many might believe that we can just cancel God and that we can do whatever we want, but God still exists and manmade laws do not supercede God's laws. This doesn't mean we have to fall into religiosity, but simply the tapping in to God anywhere, the divine within ourselves, and the divine within others. The divine law of cause and effect still stands, and it's better for us to align ourselves with that divine, uplifting energy into the world rather than digging a hole for ourselves that becomes harder and harder to get out of. We want no longer to be herded as cattle on streetcars and railroads. We want the right to earn a living, to own our own property, and to spend our income unhindered and uncursed. Sir: Your inauguration to the presidency of the United States is to the colored people, to the white South, and to the nation a momentous occasion. For the first time since the emancipation of slaves the government of this nation—the presidency, the Senate, the House of Representatives—passes on the 4th of March into the hands of the party which a half century ago fought desperately to keep black men as real estate in the eyes of the law. Your elevation to the chief magistracy of the nation at this time shows not simply a splendid national faith in the perpetuity of free government in this land, but even more, a personal faith in you. We black men by our votes helped to put you in your high position. It is true that in your overwhelming triumph at the polls that you might have succeeded without our aid, but the fact remains that our votes helped elect you this time, and that the time may easily come in the near future when without our 500,000 ballots neither you nor your party can control the government. True as this is, we would not be misunderstood. We do not ask or expect special consideration or treatment in return for our franchises. We did not vote for you and your party because you represented our best judgment. It was not because we loved Democrats more, but Republicans less and Roosevelt least, that led to our action. Calmly reviewing our action we are glad of it. It was a step toward political independence, and it was helping to put into power a man who has today the power to become the greatest benefactor of his country since Abraham Lincoln. We say this to you, sir, advisedly. We believe that the Negro problem is in many respects the greatest problem facing the nation, and we believe that you have the opportunity of beginning a just and righteous solution of this burning human wrong. This opportunity is yours because, while a southerner in birth and tradition, you have escaped the provincial training of the South and you have not had burned into your soul desperate hatred and despising of your darker fellow men. You start then where no northerner could start, and perhaps your only real handicap is peculiar lack of personal acquaintance with individual black men, a lack which is the pitiable cause of much social misery and hurt. A president of Harvard or Columbia would have known a few black men as men. It is sad that this privilege is denied a president of Princeton, sad for him and his students. But waiving this, you face no insoluble problem. The only time when the Negro problem is insoluble is when men insist on settling it wrong by asking absolutely contradictory things. You cannot make 10,000,000 people at one and the same time servile and dignified, docile and self-reliant, servants and independent leaders, segregated and yet part of the industrial organism, disfranchised and citizens of a democracy, ignorant and intelligent. This is impossible and the impossibility is not factitious; it is in the very nature of things. On the other hand, a determination on the part of intelligent and decent Americans to see that no man is denied a reasonable chance for life, liberty, and happiness simply because of the color of his skin is a simple, sane, and practical solution of the race problem in this land. The education of colored children, the opening of the gates of industrial opportunity to colored workers, absolute equality of all citizens before law, the civil rights of all decently behaving citizens in places of public accommodation and entertainment, absolute impartiality in the granting of the right of suffrage—these things are the bedrock of a just solution of the rights of man in the American Republic. Nor does this solution of color, race, and class discrimination abate one jot or tittle the just fight of humanity against crime, ignorance, inefficiency, and the right to choose one’s own wife and dinner companions. Against this plain straight truth the forces of hell in this country are fighting a terrific and momentarily successful battle. You may not realize this, Mr. Wilson. To the quiet walls of Princeton where no Negro student is admitted the noise of the fight and the reek of its blood may have penetrated but vaguely and dimly. But the fight is on, and you, sir, are this month stepping into its arena. Its virulence will doubtless surprise you and it may scare you as it scared one William Howard Taft. But we trust not; we think not. First you will be urged to surrender your conscience and intelligence in these matters to the keeping of your southern friends. They “know the Negro,” as they will continually tell you. And this is true. They do know “the Negro,” but the question for you to settle is whether or not the Negro whom they know is the real Negro or the Negro of their vivid imaginations and violent prejudices. Whatever Negro it is that your southern friends know, it is your duty to know the real Negro and know him personally. This will be no easy task. The embattled Bourbons, from the distinguished Blease to the gifted Hoke Smith, will evince grim determination to keep you from contact with any colored person. It will take more than general goodwill on your part to foil the wide conspiracy to make Negroes known to their fellow Americans not as flesh and blood but as beasts of fiction. You must remember that the ability, sincerity, and worth of one-tenth of the population of your country will be absolutely veiled from you unless you make effort to lift the veil. When you make that effort, then more trouble will follow. If you tell your southern friends that you have discovered that the internal revenue of New York is well collected and administered, they are going to regard you in pained surprise. Can a Negro administer! they will exclaim, ignoring the fact that he does. But it is not the offices at your disposal, President Woodrow Wilson, that is the burden of our great cry to you. We want to be treated as men. We want to vote. We want our children educated. We want lynching stopped. We want no longer to be herded as cattle on streetcars and railroads. We want the right to earn a living, to own our own property, and to spend our income unhindered and uncursed. Your power is limited? We know that, but the power of the American people is unlimited. Today you embody that power, you typify its ideals. In the name then of that common country for which your fathers and ours have bled and toiled, be not untrue, President Wilson, to the highest ideals of American Democracy. As always I want to share my love with all of you all with my wishes and prayers of more life, more love, more joy, more peace and prosperity for all of you guys and also to myself and to your families and to your communities. All of these videos are simply meant to just share some positivity, share some love with the world, and if I can uplift one person, 10 people, 100 a thousand, or a million, a billion, it doesn't matter. The intent is just to send some uplifting energy into the world and also to uplift myself. I wanted to talk to you guys about shifting our mindset our consciousness from consumer to creator now all of us will always have to consume something, you're always going to have to buy something, but what I mean is shifting our Consciousness, our mindset from always having to consume, to take, to receive, to receive, to receive to think about what it is that we can organically create and give to the universe. I'm talking about this as this is a shift that I have been actively making and focusing on as you see me making content every day, I make products and all things like that, and I have been actively working on shifting my consciousness in this way and so I wanted to talk about it. Hopefully this will be helpful for someone who is going into the space of content creation of maybe creating products of maybe being you know an artist or whatever it is that that's on your heart to share with the world and how do we shift our consciousness from being focusing on receiving to be focusing on giving. Break Free from Hive Mind So I want to say first if you haven't watched my previous video, please go check that one out. I'm going to link it above so you can go ahead and click on that if you haven't watched that one yet, but that one's really about focusing on clearing our mind because we are bombarded with advertising news media is talking about this and that we're bombarded with music and all different things which try to shift our consciousness and make us think a certain way, make us do certain things. Everything that we watch is trying to get you to either buy something or whatever it is, and it's this consumer culture at least in the United States and in a lot of the world which is trying to constantly get us to do something and buy something and especially in America and a lot of other developed countries. I also sell products, so I'm not hating on capitalism at all, but a lot of times we can be obsessed with consuming having more right we can compare ourselves to others in terms of "How much do you have versus how much do I have?" looking at the Joneses over there when life, I feel is really about our own internal journey. Ask What You Can Give And for me shifting the consciousness from what am I consuming to what am I creating also goes hand in hand with shifting my consciousness and shifting your consciousness family from being in a state of receiving to being in a state of giving. So if you think about the old phrase, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." I think that that's a really important point though in terms of for me maturing and instead of thinking about what you didn't do this for me or you should do this for me or you know the government didn't do this for me or the government should do do this for me or you know a partner didn't do this for me or should do this for me I think for me as I've been evolving shifting my Consciousness in my thought process to instead of complaining what other people are are or are not doing, taking things more into my own hands, taking more agency in my life, and really considering, "How do I make change in this situation?" What can I actually do here, if anything?" And I think that's a really important point you know thinking about what not what am I receiving or what should I be receiving but what can I give? Create a Vacuum. Then Fill It. The more that you clear your head of all that mind chatter of the media, of the music, of all of that, and you can sit in this space, it can be boring. So let's say you really do turn off the television, you turn off YouTube, you don't listen to any music, and you're just sitting around like okay so what am I supposed to be doing? Well in the olden days, what did people do? They would go outside. They would maybe have a hobby. They would make miniatures or they would build little miniature houses, or they might go outside and work on their car. They might garden. Use Time Alone to Find Yourself I think the first thing is you know having getting rid of all media and music and all this excess stuff, even friends. Sometimes it's good to just spend time in isolation, just alone, and I'm not saying isolation is a bad thing. It can be awesome because if you just spend some time with yourself and you create that vacuum, create that vacuum where all that stuff is gone and now you have to sit with your thoughts and sit with yourself in that time. You might be bored. When I was a kid and I'd be like "Dad I'm bored!" And he would say, Well only boring people are bored so maybe you should find something to do." And it forced me as a child to be creative. I know a lot of kids would build a fort. I don't have anything to do let me push all this stuff together and build a fort and play a make believe or whatever. It forces you to be creative and it might force you to develop a hobby. I don't have anything to do, let me go get a plant. Let me monitor my plants I already have. Let me take my dog out for a walk you know I really always wanted to paint let me get a couple of paint brushes and a canvas and just spend maybe $15 on some paint, spend like $25 at the most on it and just play around and see what your creativity comes out. You might even start to sell your art. There might be something on your your heart that you've always wanted to do but it really requires creating that vacuum of space where you're not constantly feeding that dopamine, feeding, feeding, feeding. You're having to go hungry, and then when you're in that period of hunger if you think about fasting right like taking like a fast from media all that in that period of hunger is where the insight can come in and you're like, "Oh wow I have all this hours of the day that I've been feeding with all this stuff. Huh, I could be using that for any number of things!" What Can I Share with my Family & the World? So I think it's shifting that mindset from what can I receive, always taking that dopamine hit - I need a hit, I need a hit, let me scroll, I need a hit, let me see what they're talking about. I need a hit, let me go argue with people on Twitter. Instead of doing that I think creating that space to find your own creativity and really thinking about what do I have to give? So outside of a hobby you know thinking about what is it that I know that I can share with the world? What is it that I have to offer to my family? For me it's baking. I might not have a lot to offer, but I can offer you some fresh bread and it's going to be great. Thinking through and sharing that love. It's amazing how when you give love you end up receiving so much more. And so a lot of times with media and television and news and all of this it's like we're we're trying to fill a hole that really is a hole of needing just love and instead of finding that through organic things, we're kind of using this dopamine almost like an addiction, feeding it, feeding it, feeding it, but in this space of clarity you can think about what is it that I have to give? It could be giving to the world through YouTube, it could be to your family, it can be to your spouse you know, to your children "Wow I have so much more time to really focus on those people who are really around me and to focus on those things that I actually love that give me life!" You know sometimes we can watch the the media and it can be draining to your energy like draining to your Consciousness you're like "God there's so much going on in the world" you know and then you get angry and stressed and you're like "oh like this is a lot," and instead of focusing - this is the thing - a lot of times we're addicted almost to like negativity and addicted to stressful things and I can't tell you how peaceful it is when you're not constantly focusing on on negative things and on the news. You have a state of peace. Creativity Comes from Peace & Joy And creativity at the end of the day comes from a peaceful place. It comes from being calm internally and happy. It comes from just joy. So when people start making music and singing, you sing because you're happy! You sing because you have a song on your heart. People make art even if they're sad, it's a way of kind of being cathartic. Instead of being cathartic on Twitter arguing with people, be cathartic in a way that's positive and beautiful that transmutes that negative into positive or transforms something from one thing into something else right it's a mindset shift from what can I receive and what can I feed this dopamine to let me clear this out and let it be a vacuum and really allow myself my heart space to open so that I can hear my inner thoughts, hear my inner wisdom, hear what my heart is telling telling me and just enjoy my life in real life. I mean in real life, not the out there life, but I mean I'm enjoying my life in the small action of making bread, playing with dough, playing with my dog or my children, interacting with my husband or my partner right, and going from like I think this vapid place that's kind of mental to a place that's really more coming from the heart and is more grounded in reality, grounded in the present moment and is so much more powerful because it's tactile, it's it's real. It's real. Conclusion And so I think that's how we make that mindset shift of going from consumer to creator, going from what can I receive to what can I give, and what we're giving is something that's from the heart. You can only give it once you've really tapped into what your heart has to offer offer to the world. Once you filled that hole from organic things, then you have so much to give to the world. and so that's really all I have to say about that. Take a media fast. As I embarked on my spiritual journey, I spent a couple of years totally ignoring the news and away from YouTube to the extent possible so I could clear my mind of the chatter. So before we start as always I love you guys so much. All of these videos are to uplift myself first of all and to uplift at least one person - if it's 10 people, if it's a 100, if it's a thousand, if it's a million, I'm grateful, and as always I want to share with you my prayers and well wishes for life, love, joy, peace, and prosperity. And with that let's go into the video. So when I was at the beginning of my spiritual journey, I took a break from all media and when I say all media I stopped watching the news completely, I got rid of my television, I got rid of cable, I literally did not really know what was going on on in the world. Get Out of the Echo Chamber of Politics & Social Media I think the first thing is when you start to remove all of the media out of your life, you get out of your echo chamber you get out of the hive. If you know about hive mind, you get out of the hive for the first time and you get to really think about what are my own organic thoughts? A lot of times with media, news, even YouTube, social media, we are fed the thoughts that different groups want us to have. On a particular topic, this is literally what they do - the news, the politicians - they will craft a narrative and then they will distribute that narrative, and then people who are news anchors, people who are politicians and things like that will have an established narrative. "This is what we as a group are going to collectively say about this." And then the other side will say, "This is what we as a group will collectively say about this." And then what you're hearing is not these individual people's organic thoughts. What you're often hearing is crafted narratives about certain things that they are told to say or that they've decided, "This is what we're going to say," and they say it so that everyone will believe it. A lot of times, when we're younger we just kind of take that in and then spit it out "Oh I heard that this is this is that," and you spit it out, but when you don't hear that at all, you can't even hear it you're not listening for it, you turn that radio off you turn that TV off and then someone were to just bring up an idea of that topic you might organically have a totally different opinion about it if no one had ever given you or fed you anything about it. Music The music is a second category of this where the music that we listen to will have a lot of messages in the song and then you get the song stuck in your head. Before you even think about what it's really saying, you get the song stuck in your head. you're boppin to it and then your words that you say in regular conversation might start to mirror the things that you heard in these songs and so fascinatingly a lot of us are not even aware of it. When you're not listening to a lot of music you're not picking up on those vibrations, and the reality is especially in pop music - I'm not talking about classical music, I'm not talking about like most jazz and stuff like that - but I mean especially music with words. The music itself has messages in an energetic vibration, so if you're listening to a song, even if you can't really make out what they're saying, if they're talking about shooting out people and "F that B," even if you're not consciously thinking about what it says, "F that B" is in your head and it feels more and more okay. That language feels more and more okay and then you start to align yourself with that vibration. So instead of saying like "Women are beautiful, women are amazing, women are gift," if you if the the narrative about women is "F that B," even if you might not organically feel that way it's a phrase that's now lodged into your Consciousness and you may subconsciously either say that or treat treat women in that way because that's just the phrase that's kind of gotten in there. The longer that you go without hearing those things you know it's like you become increasingly empty-minded. You're not feeding that anymore into the brain and so it becomes increasingly clear. Everything you watch is feeding something into your brain. Everything you listen to is feeding something into your brain so subconsciously for all the years of your life, you're feeding this, feeding that, feeding this right. You're being fed all kinds of things, thoughts, words, phrases, thoughts, words, phrases, opinions. Taking a Media Fast When you take a moment to to say, "Hold on wait. Shhh... Everybody shhh. Shhh!" and it's empty and it's clear and your mind is just totally empty, then you can really determine "Which things do I even want in here and which things do I want to take out?" and then you can start to see for the first time. And it's not our fault. I'm not blaming anybody. I'm not blaming myself. It's just something that's the result of the media, the overwhelming media that we have now. In my mom's generation, they didn't have social media. They didn't have Facebook. They didn't have Instagram. They didn't have Tik Tok. They had television, but they weren't watching television all day about everything in the same way that we are now. They had other things to do, and there weren't as many shows on TV. They didn't have YouTube with every single person talking about their opinion. There was a little bit more clear-headedness, and I think a lot of us, the younger ones of us have gotten so stuck on constantly being bombarded with just advertisement, advertisement, advertisement, song, music, music, music, music, social media, Tik Tok, Tik Tok, Tik Tok. It's become standard that a lot of people are starting to have increased levels of ADHD mental illness, and it's because their mind has become so packed with just stuff that they don't know what it's like to just sit quietly and have a clear mind and to just sit and not do anything, just sitting peacefully and be quiet because their mind is just filled with junk. It's the same thing if you were to eat a bunch of junk food, your body starts to be filled with junk and what do you do? You have to exercise and get that weight off. You have to exercise to clear your arteries. You have to do things to get it out. And so all that I'm advocating for is that we just take some time to get off everything. Get off social media for a time. Get off the news for some time. Get off YouTube. Get off of everything so that you can hear clearly what do you really feel about everything? What do you really want? What is your purpose? If you're spiritual, what does God want you to do? If if you believe in God, what are you hearing from God? When we have so much bombarding into our head all we're hearing is is just music running in our head, and we're thinking about what this news station said, we're angry about this, and angry about that, but once we clear all that out of the way then you can finally start to have peace and start to have clarity about what it is that you really want out of life and it's outside of what people have told you to want or told you to believe. It's that you can really start to listen to your heart space and be in this clear headed place where you can hear for the first time what your heart's really saying to you, and so I just think that's super important, and it was really beneficial for me. Conclusion There were a couple of years where I really didn't watch anything and I remember like recently I've been watching a lot of YouTube again. I just started watching YouTube again just a few months ago and have been watching it a lot cuz I'm like what's going on in the world? I want to kind of hop back in and see where everyone's at what y'all doing what y'all been doing for the past few years? I've been out here doing yoga and meditating just kind of minding my little business, and I come back and I'm like oh there's a migrant crisis been having for the past year like I didn't know. But I think sometimes you have to do that so you can just clear that space and now I feel as you see me posting every day active again and ready to kind of come back into the world. You can do that with a fresh clean slate and a fresh clean mind. Part II: Shift Your Consciousness from Consumer to Creator I'm going to come back with part two of this which is going to be stop consuming to start creating so once we clear our head of all the Mind shatter and all the things have been bombarded bombarded into your head, it's just dumped in there. Once you can just let that just disappear, let it disappear, then I think it can be a really interesting space to start creating. If you see how creative I've been over the past couple of years, I've made a magazine, if you ever go to my website, Liveology.org, you will see so much content that in the absence of input I had to find something to do and so I also started making products bodycare products and malas and all that kind of stuff. - Don’t Let Rage Bait Lower Your Vibration. How to Raise It.
Don't get triggered by fear, anger, and hatred. Much of what we see in the media and on social media platforms is designed to lower our vibration and to keep us in lower energy centers of fear, anger, survival instincts, and hatred causing us to vote in certain ways and make bad decisions. How to become aware of rage bait and how to resist it so we can live in higher energy centers of love, joy, peace, and gratitude. Full Video Transcription Peace family, it is Christina and today I wanted to talk about rage bait and how a lot of the things that we watch are actually designed to make us angry stressed frustrated and to live out of our lower frequencies of survival instincts anger hatred things like that that prevent us from living our best life and prevent us from living in a state of Joy love all those type of higher frequencies and how to shift our frequency from these lower vibrational energies into higher energies. And so of course before we start I just want to wish you guys all of my love Abundant Life love joy peace and prosperity as always these are intended to uplift myself at least and if I can help one more person 10 people 100 people a million it doesn't matter the point is simply to send some uplifting energy into the world really to counteract a lot of this negative energy which is what I wanted to talk about today So everything I talk about is coming out of my own experiences my own life and truly watching the news and what I wanted to talk about is how a lot of this content is actually designed as rage bait. What is Rage Bait? Let's say you see someone on Tik Tok and they make some food. They throw some hot dogs they throw some like eggs they throw a whole bunch of vegetables and pickles and stuff like that and then some gelatin and they put it in the air fryer and they're like look it's dessert right and then you're like I can't believe they did that and then you share it with all these people like look at how disgusting that is that's rage bait. And so a lot of people and it goes for all all range of categories of things but what happens is people have learned the algorithms and that people will share for whatever reason highly negative things more than they will share highly positive things. So when you see something that's disgusting, that's crazy, like you hear someone saying something like, "Well you know obviously the sky is yellow" you know and they're adamant about that and you know you're like wow this person is insane let me send this to all of my friends or you know you'll see all kind of things in the media and on social media that is not just accidentally that way. They do it on purpose because they know that that's how they're going to get the views and the subscribers and the likes right and so that's just what it is now. A lot of us I don't think realize it like we just kind of watch it and just get provoked it's kind of like an an instinct. The instincts come out and it's like oh my God and then we just naturally share it and so we're perpetuating this cycle. So if you watched my last couple of videos I was talking about taking a break from social media like I called it Break free from the Hive Mind. I followed that up with Shift Your Consciousness from Consumer to Creator energy and so now I want to talk about how to raise your vibration and how to not allow the things that you watch is because we can't help but to be aware of the news you know I'm still watching the news to some level because I want to be aware of what's going on. So how do you watch these things how do you scroll on social media without being triggered and put in these low vibrational energies. What are Low Vibrational Energies? Low vibrational energies are energies that are things that keep us negative hateful and prevent us from really accessing our higher energy centers and they prevent us from from being creative, happy, joyful and things like that. So the lower energies would be anger, hatred, survival instincts. I really don't want to trigger you guys but when you think about the migrant crisis so one of the things that happens with things like the migrant crisis is the way that it's being portrayed by both sides is that it's trying to provoke your survival instincts. It's trying to provoke something. So you watch it and a lot of the way that this is portrayed on the news is intended to make you pissed off - that's the point. It's meant to do that. It's meant to make you highly angry at the migrants, it's intended to make you angry at the government, it's intended to provoke some level of rage. How can they do this! I can't believe that! And so you have this instinct right and so as much as it might feel natural to be like well obviously how could anyone you see some of the stuff on the news and you're like how could anyone not have an angry reaction to this and it could be any number of things, but I just bring that up because it's just something that's really going on right now in our country and what I'm saying is don't play into it. Now I'm not saying to not know what's going on and to not like be aware and things like that but to not allow those things to take you down into those negative energies, so even if you see a million migrants come into the United States you have to protect your energy so that you are not becoming enraged by it, that you are not becoming hateful toward the migrants, that you are not becoming aggressively hateful toward the government. Do you see what I'm saying? You have to start to separate those emotions because I think what's happening is it's intentional to try to provoke us into this negative reaction and then now we're stuck in these lower energy centers of hatred and fear and anger, and when you're in a state of hatred and fear and anger it's impossible to thrive on an energetic level. When you're in those negative energy states of hatred fear and anger, those are the opposite of things like gratitude love, peace, and joy. That's why when I when I introduce my videos every time I'm like I wish you abundant life, love, joy, peace, and prosperity, and that's intentional because those are the values that are high vibrational that I want to align with that I want you to be aligned with right, and I want to be associated with people who are also on that vibration of peace, love, joy, and gratitude. And I think what's happening is with with a lot of the and I'm not sure why right so I can't say all the reasons that other people do things, but I'm just saying for us to protect our energy by even if you see these things check your emotions. We all have different trigger points and depending on what your particular trigger point is that's generally how we will vote. So if you have a trigger point that's like about gender, you might vote a certain way. If you have a trigger point that's about economics you might vote a certain way if you have a trigger point that's about you know um immigration you might vote a certain way right I'm not judging any of them I'm just saying that I think we need to be more aware of our triggers and how the media and different things that we watch are just manipulating us to come out of our lower energy centers of anger hatred aggression fear and they provoke us to make bad decisions. So if you see a lot of people when they're in a a fear state, they will either end up making bad financial decisions or they might even end up doing drugs and things like that as a way to kind of escape. A lot of times people end up on those drugs because they're in a state of fear and crisis or anger or they're holding on to some type of negative emotion that they're using the drugs as a way to self-medicate. I'm not judging it at all been there done that. So what we need to do instead of feeding these negative feelings, and it can feel it can feel very urgent right. It feels like I need to know what's going on, I need to watch this because our fear centers are it's like the animalistic Center that protects yourself protects your family right it feels like I have to watch this ad nauseum so that I can be safe, so that I can be protected, so that I know what to protect my family from right and on some level obviously we have to be aware, but I think that what's happening is our survival instincts are being are being hijacked to the point that that we're existing as a society in these low vibrational negative energy centers of fear, anger, and hatred, and so when that even guilt and shame are also part of that. Guilt and shame are really big ones in that as well. And so so that we can make better decisions as individuals and as a society, we have to move out of these lower vibrational centers into higher consciousness. We need to move out of lower vibrational centers into higher Consciousness. Vibrations of a Higher Consciousness That the vibrations that are of a higher consciousness are love, joy, peace, gratitude, prosperity things like that, and when you have these higher vibrational centers there is not an us versus them okay that doesn't exist there. So when you're in these low vibrational centers of fear and things like that, you're in your survival instincts, the animal instincts. I have a dog who's over here making a little bit of noise right now you know. She's a she's an only dog. There are no other dogs here, but her survival instinct will still say I got a treat I got to go hide it. I got this I got to go protect what I have. That's an animal instinct, and it comes from this belief that something can be taken from me. If someone else has something that means I don't have, and there's not enough to go around. In terms of Earthly rules, that might be the case. If you only exist in the 3D physical and live in the I-only-believe-what-I-see consciousness, that is true, but some of us are able to - and all of us are really able to do this, but I think some people believe that there's nothing beyond the physical - but there is. Everything physical begins in the spiritual realm before it becomes physical and so there are infinite resources. There is infinite love, there is infinite access to peace and prosperity for all of us in the spiritual realm okay. On the physical realm our fear and anger and hatred and our us versus them mentality has created a situation has manifested a physical expression of our Consciousness that says that there is not enough to go around and so that's what we've manifested into reality. And so as long as the majority of the population is existing in these negative energy centers of fear, us versus them, there's not enough to go around, then we're continuing to manifest as a society these things. It's possible for us as a society to elevate our Consciousness collectively not just as one person but as all of us with the higher level Consciousness. So if enough of us believe and tap into the spiritual understanding that there is enough love, joy, peace, abundance for everyone, then we will no longer have this fearful mentality in these type of fear-based actions that are happening and we will no longer be bound by or or manipulated by fear mongering and rage. I hope that makes sense to you all. This is a Consciousness problem this is not a physical problem, and you can't fix a problem at the same level of consciousness that created it. You have to go to a higher level of Consciousness right so if my dog makes a mess right and I'm like Buffy fix the mess, she's she's at a certain level of Consciousness where she doesn't really know how to do that right and so I can't be angry at her for not fixing it I just have to fix it right but as humans we have the ability to change our Consciousness to change our minds to learn new ways of being and to turn off certain um to turn off some of our instinctive reactions to things. So if my instinct if someone slaps me in the face I slap them back right that's an instinctual animalistic reaction but I can let someone slap me in the face and be like you look stupid right you know and not do it back like because as as a human I have that choice to to move beyond the physical into the spiritual and that's what we need to do here. So as you guys keep watching, because they're not going to stop pushing this negative stuff. They're not going to stop. They're not going to stop, and as a result, I'm not going to stop pushing positive stuff because I feel like more of us need to just create positive uplifting content that promotes love, joy, prosperity for everyone right like peace, peace on Earth. More people just need to say that peace on Earth, peace on Earth, peace on Earth. If you just watch some of this media they want to keep us in these low vibrational centers because it keeps people asleep, it keeps people sick, it keeps people angry and fearful and disempowered. Once you evolve out of this kind of lower vibrational frequency, you become much more empowered over your life and you feel much more agency. Knowledge is power. Being spiritually tapped in is a powerful thing and I think that there's some fear on some of the the powers that be is what I would say of people Mass Awakening to these things, and I think that's why it just feels like it's just this bombarding. It feels like they're just bombarding us with negative energy from all sides and every in education, they're bombarding us negative energy in the music, they're bombarding us with negative energy in terms of the way the government is running things and I think it's really meant to demoralize us and to discourage us and to make us feel fearful and angry and hateful of others, make us xenophobic and makes us hateful of the immigrants it makes us hateful of each other. We're driving and people are honking you know they're angry. And like I said in the previous video how does the US heal this disease that is that is being pushed and the way we do that is by elevating our Consciousness that's how we do that in my opinion and coming from really focusing and this is what I mean focusing ourselves on positive things. What you focus on multiplies. If you focus on the negative, then that's what you will have in your Consciousness. If you're in a state where you're focusing on negative things you have to literally combat that by intentionally adding positive things by saying positive affirmations, by looking at positive news, by looking at puppies and kittens and fish floating around. I'm so serious, and relaxing your mind out of that Consciousness and reminding yourself that you can come out of the fear you can come out of the anger you can come out of the hatred and you can you can elevate your Consciousness and your life into these higher frequencies and that you can associate with people who are of a higher frequency and you can change your external expression to a higher frequency by changing your Consciousness. Conclusion I'm going to stop it here, but I'm going to keep talking about this because I feel like it just feels so urgent for me and if you have this on your heart, I wish that other people would make videos as well that are just positive, that are just lifting our Consciousness up out of the muck and into the heavens, that's it. Out of the muck and into the heavens. We can have heaven on Earth we can have peace on Earth but we have to have enough people who want that and are are pushing for that you know what I'm saying. Right now, we have more people pushing for war, anger, xenophobia, hatred for each other, crabs in a barrel we have more people doing this [pulling each other down] than we do have doing this [hugging each other]. Again, I'm not promoting any party or any particular ideology I'm just talking about elevating our Consciousness as a whole whole so that we can all live peaceful and happy lives and not fall for the rage bait that I feel like is really keeping us in these low vibrational energy centers so that we can resist that resist it with everything you have so that you can live in the higher energy centers of Peace Joy love abundance Prosperity. Those are the things I wish for myself, and those are the things I wish for you and for your community, and I wish that more of us would focus on these positive things as opposed to the negative ones and I think it would really change our society tremendously if more of us would do that. And so with that, I will leave it there. - Easy, Freezable Biscuits. No Rolling Pin Needed!
Have hot biscuits anytime. A simple recipe for easy biscuits. I like to freeze most of them to have hot biscuits anytime! They puff up nicely, even after being frozen. You can also refrigerate them, but bake within a couple of days if you use dairy milk. Recipe 2 Cups Flour (plus extra for kneading) 3/4 Cup Milk (or just under) 1/3 Cup Shortening 1T Baking Powder 1T Sugar 1t Salt (Optional) 2T Butter & .5t Salt for topping Tools Needed Large Bowl Clean Counter Fork or Pastry Cutter Something to Cut the Rounds (Cookie Cutter, Measuring Cup, or Round Glass) Baking Sheet or Glass Baking Dish Oven Instructions Add flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt to a bowl. Mix well. Cut in shortening with fork or pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse sand. Add in milk a little at a time until it forms a soft dough. You may need a little less than 3/4 cup, so if it becomes very sticky, don't add it all. Knead until just combined, and use your fingers to spread it out into a thick sheet about 3/4" to 1" thick. Leave a small pile of flour to dip your cutter in before cutting the dough so it doesn't stick. Cut the rounds and place on your baking sheet. (Optional) If you wish to freeze them, cover the container so it is airtight and place them in the freezer. Make sure none of them are touching. After they have frozen completely, you can put them into a smaller container. Bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes, a little longer if they're frozen. Moses then called Bezalel and Oholiab and every skillful one to whom the the LORD had given skill, everyone whose heart was stirred to come to do the work The Books of the Bible Bezalel and Oholiab Exodus 35:30 Then Moses said to the Israelites: See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 31 he has filled him with divine spirit, with skill, intelligence, and knowledge in every kind of craft, 32 to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, 33 in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, in every kind of craft. 34 And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35 He has filled them with skill to do every kind of work done by an artisan or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue, purple, and crimson yarns, and in fine linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of artisan or skilled designer. Exodus 36:1 Bezalel and Oholiab and every skillful one to whom the LORD has given skill and understanding to know how to do any work in the construction of the sanctuary shall work in accordance with all that the LORD has commanded. 2 Moses then called Bezalel and Oholiab and every skillful one to whom the the LORD had given skill, everyone whose heart was stirred to come to do the work; 3 and they received from Moses all the freewill offerings that the Israelites had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him freewill offerings every morning, 4 so that all the artisans who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came, each from the task being performed, 5 and said to Moses, “The people are bringing much more than enough for doing the work that the LORD has commanded us to do.” 6 So Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp: “No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary.” So the people were restrained from bringing; 7 for what they had already brought was more than enough to do all the work. Construction of the Tabernacle 8 All those with skill among the workers made the tabernacle with ten curtains; they were made of fine twisted linen, and blue, purple, and crimson yarns, with cherubim skillfully worked into them. 9 The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; all the curtains were of the same size. 10 He joined five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he joined to one another. 11 He made loops of blue on the edge of the outermost curtain of the first set; likewise he made them on the edge of the outermost curtain of the second set; 12 he made fifty loops on the one curtain, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was in the second set; the loops were opposite one another. 13 And he made fifty clasps of gold, and joined the curtains one to the other with clasps; so the tabernacle was one whole. 14 He also made curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle; he made eleven curtains. 15 The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; the eleven curtains were of the same size. 16 He joined five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves. 17 He made fifty loops on the edge of the outermost curtain of the one set, and fifty loops on the edge of the other connecting curtain. 18 He made fifty clasps of bronze to join the tent together so that it might be one whole. 19 And he made for the tent a covering of tanned rams’ skins and an outer covering of fine leather. 20 Then he made the upright frames for the tabernacle of acacia wood. 21 Ten cubits was the length of a frame, and a cubit and a half the width of each frame. 22 Each frame had two pegs for fitting together; he did this for all the frames of the tabernacle. 23 The frames for the tabernacle he made in this way: twenty frames for the south side; 24 and he made forty bases of silver under the twenty frames, two bases under the first frame for its two pegs, and two bases under the next frame for its two pegs. 25 For the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty frames 26 and their forty bases of silver, two bases under the first frame and two bases under the next frame. 27 For the rear of the tabernacle westward he made six frames. 28 He made two frames for corners of the tabernacle in the rear. 29 They were separate beneath, but joined at the top, at the first ring; he made two of them in this way, for the two corners. 30 There were eight frames with their bases of silver: sixteen bases, under every frame two bases. 31 He made bars of acacia wood, five for the frames of the one side of the tabernacle, 32 and five bars for the frames of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the frames of the tabernacle at the rear westward. 33 He made the middle bar to pass through from end to end halfway up the frames. 34 And he overlaid the frames with gold, and made rings of gold for them to hold the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold. 35 He made the curtain of blue, purple, and crimson yarns, and fine twisted linen, with cherubim skillfully worked into it. 36 For it he made four pillars of acacia, and overlaid them with gold; their hooks were of gold, and he cast for them four bases of silver. 37 He also made a screen for the entrance to the tent, of blue, purple, and crimson yarns, and fine twisted linen, embroidered with needlework; 38 and its five pillars with their hooks. Let not the natives of Africa be sacrificed to the greed of gold, their liberties taken away, their family life debauched... London. July 25, 1900. In the metropolis of the modern world, in this the closing year of the nineteenth century, there has been assembled a congress of men and women of African blood, to deliberate solemnly upon the present situation and outlook of the darker races of mankind. The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line, the question as to how far differences of race-which show themselves chiefly in the color of the skin and the texture of the hair-will hereafter be made the basis of denying to over half the world the right of sharing to utmost ability the opportunities and privileges of modern civilization. To be sure, the darker races are today the least advanced in culture according to European standards. This has not, however, always been the case in the past. And certainly the world’s history, both ancient and modern, has given many instances of no despicable ability and capacity among the blackest races of men. In any case, the modern world must remember that in this age when the ends of the world are being brought so near together the millions of black men in Africa, America and the Islands of the Sea, not to speak of the brown and yellow myriads elsewhere, are bound to have a great influence upon the world in the future, by reason of sheer numbers and physical contact. If now the world of culture bends itself towards giving Negroes and other dark men the largest and broadest opportunity for education and self-development, then this contact and influence is bound to have a beneficial effect upon the world and hasten human progress. But if, by reason of carelessness, prejudice, greed and injustice, the black world is to be exploited and ravished and degraded, the results must be deplorable, if not fatal-not simply to them, but to the high ideals of justice, freedom and culture which a thousand years of Christian civilization have held before Europe. And now, therefore, to these ideals of civilization, to the broader humanity of the followers of the Prince of Peace, we, the men and women of Africa in world congress assembled, do now solemnly appeal: Let the world take no backward step in that slow but sure progress which has successively refused to let the spirit of class, of caste, of privilege, or of birth, debar from life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness a striving human soul. Let no color or race be a feature of distinction between white and black men, regardless of worth or ability. Let not the natives of Africa be sacrificed to the greed of gold, their liberties taken away, their family life debauched, their just aspirations repressed, and avenues of advancement and culture taken from them. Let not the cloak of Christian missionary enterprise be allowed in the future, as so often in the past, to hide the ruthless economic exploitation and political downfall of less developed nations, whose chief fault has been reliance on the plighted faith of the Christian church. Let the British nation, the first modern champion of Negro freedom, hasten to crown the work of Wilberforce, and Clarkson, and Buxton, and Sharpe, Bishop Colenso, and Livingston, and give as soon as practicable, the rights of responsible government to the black colonies of Africa and the West Indies. Let not the spirit of Garrison, Phillips, and Douglass wholly die out in America; may the conscience of a great nation rise and rebuke all dishonesty and unrighteous oppression toward the American Negro, and grant to him the right of franchise, security of person and property, and generous recognition of the great work he has accomplished in a generation toward raising nine millions of human beings from slavery to manhood. Let the German Empire, and the French Republic, true to their great past, remember that the true worth of colonies lies in their prosperity and progress, and that justice, impartial alike to black and white, is the first element of prosperity. Let the Congo Free State become a great central Negro state of the world, and let its prosperity be counted not simply in cash and commerce, but in the happiness and true advancement to its black people. Let the nations of the world respect the integrity and independence of the free Negro states of Abyssinia, Liberia, Haiti, and the rest, and let the inhabitants of these states, the independent tribes of Africa, the Negroes of the West Indies and America, and the black subjects of all nations take courage, strive ceaselessly, and fight bravely, that they may prove to the world their incontestable right to be counted among the great brotherhood of mankind. Thus we appeal with boldness and confidence to the Great Powers of the civilized world, trusting in the wide spirit of humanity, and the deep sense of justice and of our age, for a generous recognition of the righteousness of our cause.
