The Yogic Diet | Hatha Yoga Pradipika 1:58-63

When first starting practice, avoid indulging in fire, bad company, sexual distractions, bathing early in the morning, fasting, strenuous activity, and long journeys.

I.58 A moderate diet should consist of moist, sweet food, leaving 1/4 of the stomach empty.

59 Foods not beneficial for yogis include foods that are bitter, sour, pungent, salty, heat producing, sour, sesame, mustard, alcohol, fish, meat, curds, buttermilk, and garlic.

60 Food that is reheated, dry foods, excessively salty or sour foods, and other vegetables should be avoided as unhealthy.

61 When first starting practice, avoid indulging in fire, bad company, sexual distractions, bathing early in the morning, fasting, strenuous activity, and long journeys.

62 Foods that are beneficial for yogis include grains such as wheat, rice, barley, milk, ghee, brown sugar, butter, honey, ginger, certain vegetables, and purified foods, pure water.

63 Yogis should eat food that is mixed with ghee and milk, ensuring food is sweet and pleasing as well as and nourishing to the body.
