From Southern Roots Vegan Bakery

San Antonio residents Marcus and Cara Pitts met working in the healthcare field in 2013. Once they were married, Cara became a full-time caregiver for her 98-year-old grandmother, Mary Lee. When Marcus made the decision to go plant-based, it set Cara on a journey to create meals her grandmother, who was born and raised in the South, would love to enjoy and that wouldn't lack in taste.

Through a lot of trial and error and playing around with recipes that she previously baked for years, Cara came up with a simple, yet delicious plant-based donut that friends, family, and especially Mary Lee loved! Marcus and Cara regularly served their vegan treats in the children's ministry at their church which eventually led to their online bakery - Southern Roots Vegan Bakery (SRVB). With the love and support of their friends and family, they started going to farmers' markets and eventually made their way to Social Media Influencer, Tabitha Brown, which helped to gain their first viral exposure.

Southern Roots Vegan Bakery now ships nationwide and offers delivery for San Antonio residents. Everything they create is homemade, from their now-famous assorted dozen cake donuts which come in Red Velvet, Classic OG (original glaze), and Lemon Drop to their Mary Lee’s Lemon Cake, named after Cara’s grandmother.

All of the Southern Roots’ baked goods are vegan friendly, which means no dairy, eggs, or animal products. Most of SRVB’s treats come in heat-sealed packages to preserve freshness and can be frozen for up to 3 months in original packaging. SRVB’s products are great for vegan and plant-based diets or anyone wanting healthier alternatives.
