Downward dog is one of the most common yoga poses, and is strengthening for the entire body.

Sanskrit Name: Adho Mukha Svanasana

English Translation: Downward Facing Dog

Adho - Downward

Mukha - Facing

Svana - Dog

Asana - Posture

How to:

  • Begin in Adho Mukha Svanasana, on all four "paws".

  • While maintaining an even pelvis, lift one leg off the ground

  • To increase the hip opening, externally rotate the leg and flex the foot.
