2.19 You can tell the nadis are purified by external signs such as leanness and radiance of the body.

20 When the nadis are purified, the practitioner can restrain the breath, agni (inner fire) is stimulated, nada (the inner sound) can be heard, and the practitioner has overall great health.

21 The overweight practitioner with excess phlegm should first practice the 6 cleansing acts before attempting pranayama. Others do not need to practice these if their doshas are already balanced.
