Humility
Humility the first of the seven virtues.
Humility, or humbling one's self goes hand in hand with ego-death. One can cultivate humility by putting one's pride to the side and focusing on the needs of others over the needs of yourself. Another way is by surrendering your will to God and adjusting your behavior to follow God as felt within your heart. Ego death allows the "self" identity to fall away completely and leads to a higher level of spiritual development.
The opposite of humility is pride, one of the seven deadly sins.
