Etymology

Sanskrit Name: Marichyasana B

English Translation: Marichi's Pose

How to:

  1. Begin seated with the legs extended in Dandasana

  2. Bring the left leg into half lotus, by placing it into the right hip crease

  3. Place the right foot on the floor, and allow the side of the left thigh to drop down to the floor. If there is any pinching or discomfort in the knee, place the foot on the floor between the right foot and glute.

  4. Reach the right arm on the inside of the right knee. Internally rotate the shoulder and reach the hand down and around the back.

  5. Reach the left hand behind your back to meet the right. If the hands don’t meet yet, hold a towel between your hands. Hold for five or more breaths.

  6. Repeat on the other side.
