- Sacrum
A triangular-shaped bone located at the base of the spine, forming the posterior portion of the pelvis. Anatomy The sacrum is situated between the two hip bones (ilia) and connects the spine to the pelvis. It lies just below the lumbar vertebrae and above the coccyx (tailbone). The sacrum consists of five fused vertebrae (S1 to S5) in adults. These vertebrae are fused together to form a single, solid bone, giving the sacrum its characteristic shape. The sacrum has a natural curve, which helps to support the weight of the upper body and maintain balance when standing or walking. Functions Support : The sacrum provides structural support and shock absorption for the pelvis and helps distribute body weight to the lower limbs during activities such as walking, running, and standing. Nerve Pathway: The sacrum is also an important part of the sacral plexus, a network of nerves that innervates the lower limbs, pelvis, and perineum. The sacral nerves exit the spinal column through the sacral foramina, providing motor and sensory function to these areas. Protection: The sacrum protects the pelvic organs, including the bladder, reproductive organs, and part of the intestines. Common Issues Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction The sacroiliac joints connect the sacrum to the ilium (hip bones). Dysfunction can occur when these joints become inflamed or irritated causing pain in the lower back, buttocks, or hips, which may worsen with certain movements (e.g., standing up, sitting, or climbing stairs). Sciatica Although primarily related to the sciatic nerve, sacral issues can contribute to sciatica, where the nerve becomes compressed or irritated, causing sharp or shooting pain that radiates from the lower back down through the buttocks and along one leg, often accompanied by numbness or tingling. - Habari Gani? Soften Your Heart.
Do you remember how effervescent you were before the world got to you? Sunday, October 27, 2024 Do you remember how efervescent you were before the world got to you? This world has a fascinating way of hardening us, toughening us up to deal with the challenges of life, often forcing us to prioritize things like responsibilities and making money over the things of the heart. How many times have you wanted to lay in bed with a loved one, or spend more time with your kids, but you had to pull yourself away and drag yourself to work? How many times have you had a moment of creative inspiration to write a book or to paint or maybe even to start a business, but the project just fell by the wayside because you had to focus on "more important things" aka things that make you money? How many times have you been disappointed or hurt in life causing you to place a(nother) layer around your heart so that you can compartmentalize the pain and go about your business? Maybe it's just me, but I can pinpoint actual moments when life hardened my soft little heart, bit by bit; the moments when life began to take my joy and contain my spirit into a box that was easier for others to manage; the moments when I had to ignore Liveology and my desire to be an entrepreneur because I needed to make money to pay bills; the moments I began to build a hard shell around my heart in order to function in what I perceived to be a cold, dog-eat-dog world. We often don't realize these moments of hardening in the moment they are happening. In the moment, it feels practical and like self-preservation. But just like cholesterol slowly and quietly hardening the arteries, there comes a tipping point where it suddenly becomes unsustainable, and our heart has become so hardened that it no longer functions normally. This subtle hardening meant to protect us from the coldness of the world over time can prevent us from feeling true love. This practical focus on making money to support ourselves and our families over time can turn into a loss of our creativity and our passions. This reasonable desire to fit in with general society over time can cause us to wear a mask for so long that we totally forget who we really are. Have you become hardened as well? As many years as I have been "doing the work" of self-study and personal growth, the work is never finished. I recently experienced a moment of great self awareness. A mirror was held up to me, showing the hard layers still calcifying my heart. Some areas of my heart were so hardened that, like a silent heart attack, had died completely, and I couldn't even perceive them anymore. That is, until through grace, they were revealed to me. When you have moments of enlightenment, you always have two choices: Ignore the new information and stay the same or address it and change. It can not only be difficult, but painful to change. If you have been building up hard layers around your love, or your creativity, or your soul for a long time, it might - no it will hurt when you realize that the very thing you built to protect yourself from the world actually walled you off from parts of yourself. But these great moments of awakening happen so that we can get out of the rut, realize the walls we have created so that something new can happen, so that breakthrough can occur. In what ways do you need to soften? So here is a question for you. Where have you built hard layers around your heart? Where have you to stifled your creativity or put yourself into a box? Where have you to dimmed your light? While at first it appears that these efforts are practical measures to function in this world, ultimately it never does us any good. Time and again, people reach the end of their lives and wish they had spent less time purshing that extra bonus and more time with their families. Time and again, people reach the end of their lives and wish they had put forth more effort to pursue their dreams. Time and again, people reach the end of their lives and wish they had softened earlier, forgiven earlier, and returned to the effervescence they had as a child sooner. So what's stopping you? Do it now. We all have many layers, and so here is some encouragement to you as I do this within myself. Peel back one of the layers of of your heart today. Find a place where you can soften and return to that childlike innocence and light before the world got to you. You might do that through simply sitting in prayer and meditation, asking God to heal and soften your heart. You might do that through painting or journaling. Whatever you do, take one step to remember who you were before the world got to you. And soften. Christina V. Mills is the creator and editor of Liveology® Magazine. - The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church traces its origins to Jesus Christ and his apostles, citing Peter as the first leader of the church. Website https://www.vatican.va/content/vatican/en.html History The Catholic Church is the largest Christian church, with a history that spans over two millennia. The Catholic Church traces its origins to Jesus Christ and his apostles, citing Peter as the first leader of the church, appointed by Jesus himself. It was the original organized Christian church until the church split into the Eastern Orthodox and Western Roman Catholic Church in the 11th century and the Protestants separated off during the Reformation in the 16th century. Origins with Jesus and the Apostles The Catholic Church believes it was founded by Jesus Christ around 30 AD, who, according to the New Testament, appointed Peter as the first leader of his followers (the first pope) with the famous words, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18). After the death and resurrection of Christ, his disciples spread the Christian message across the Roman Empire. Early Persecution Early Christians faced waves of persecution by Roman authorities, especially under emperors like Nero and Diocletian, as they refused to worship Roman gods. Despite this, Christianity spread rapidly across the empire, due to its message of salvation and the dedication of missionaries like Paul the Apostle. Formalizing Doctrine The Roman Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity in the early 4th century and issued the Edict of Milan in 313 AD, which legalized Christianity in the empire. The First Council of Nicaea in 325 was convened to address heresies like Arianism and to affirm core Christian beliefs, including the divinity of Jesus. This led to the Nicene Creed, a foundational statement of Christian faith. The Papacy and the Holy Roman Empire As the Roman Empire declined and eventually fell in the 5th century, the bishop of Rome, later known as the pope, became increasingly powerful. Figures like Pope Leo the Great (440–461) and Pope Gregory the Great (590–604) helped solidify the authority of the papacy, providing spiritual leadership and, at times, temporal leadership in the vacuum left by Rome’s collapse. The close relationship between the church and political rulers grew when Charlemagne was crowned emperor by Pope Leo III in 800 AD, forming the Holy Roman Empire. This period marked the height of Christendom, where the Catholic Church and European kingdoms were tightly intertwined. The Great Schism: The Roman Catholic Church Separates from the Eastern Orthodox Church In 1054, tensions between the Western (Latin-speaking) and Eastern (Greek-speaking) branches of Christianity culminated in the Great Schism. This division resulted in the separation of the Roman Catholic Church in the West and the Eastern Orthodox Church in the East, primarily over issues of papal authority and theological differences. Crusades Beginning in 1095, the Catholic Church launched a series of military campaigns, called the Crusades, to reclaim the Holy Land from Muslim control. Although the Crusades were a mixture of religious fervor, political ambition, and economic interests, they profoundly influenced both the church and Christian-Muslim relations. Scholasticism and Theology: The medieval period was also marked by significant intellectual and theological developments. The work of St. Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274), particularly his Summa Theologica, laid the groundwork for Catholic theology. Scholasticism, which sought to harmonize faith and reason, was the dominant intellectual movement of the era. 4. The Renaissance and Reformation (16th – 17th Centuries) The Renaissance saw a resurgence of art, science, and humanism in Europe, with many popes becoming patrons of the arts. However, corruption within the church (e.g., the sale of indulgences, nepotism, and moral decline among clergy) led to widespread criticism. In 1517, Martin Luther, a German monk, nailed his 95 Theses to a church door, challenging practices within the Catholic Church, particularly the sale of indulgences and the authority of the pope. This act sparked the Protestant Reformation, leading to the formation of Protestant denominations like Lutheranism, Calvinism, and Anglicanism. Beliefs The Pope The Catholic Church recognizes the pope as the successor of St. Peter and the leader of the global church. The Sacraments The church teaches that there are seven sacraments, including baptism, Eucharist (Communion), and marriage. Apostolic Tradition Catholics believe in the importance of both Scripture and Tradition in conveying the teachings of Christ. Transubstantiation The belief that, during the Eucharist, the bread and wine become the actual body and blood of Christ. Membership The Catholic Church is the largest Christian denomination in the world with approximately 1.3 billion baptized members worldwide, accounting for about 17.7% of the global population. - The United Kings of Northern Canaan Defeated | Joshua 11
So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses. The Books of the Bible The Book of Joshua The United Kings of Northern Canaan Defeated 11:1 When King Jabin of Hazor heard of this, he sent to King Jobab of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph, 2 and to the kings who were in the northern hill country, and in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and in Naphoth-dor on the west, 3 to the Canaanites in the east and the west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, and the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites under Hermon in the land of Mizpah. 4 They came out, with all their troops, a great army, in number like the sand on the seashore, with very many horses and chariots. 5 All these kings joined their forces, and came and camped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel. 6 And the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will hand over all of them, slain, to Israel; you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.” 7 So Joshua came suddenly upon them with all his fighting force, by the waters of Merom, and fell upon them. 8 And the LORD handed them over to Israel, who attacked them and chased them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and eastward as far as the valley of Mizpeh. They struck them down, until they had left no one remaining. 9 And Joshua did to them as the LORD commanded him; he hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots with fire. 10 Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and struck its king down with the sword. Before that time Hazor was the head of all those kingdoms. 11 And they put to the sword all who were in it, utterly destroying them; there was no one left who breathed, and he burned Hazor with fire. 12 And all the towns of those kings, and all their kings, Joshua took, and struck them with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded. 13 But Israel burned none of the towns that stood on mounds except Hazor, which Joshua did burn. 14 All the spoil of these towns, and the livestock, the Israelites took for their booty; but all the people they struck down with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, and they did not leave any who breathed. 15 As the LORD had commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses. Summary of Joshua’s Conquests 16 So Joshua took all that land: the hill country and all the Negeb and all the land of Goshen and the lowland and the Arabah and the hill country of Israel and its lowland, 17 from Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir, as far as Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. He took all their kings, struck them down, and put them to death. 18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. 19 There was not a town that made peace with the Israelites, except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon; all were taken in battle. 20 For it was the LORD’S doing to harden their hearts so that they would come against Israel in battle, in order that they might be utterly destroyed, and might receive no mercy, but be exterminated, just as the LORD had commanded Moses. 21 At that time Joshua came and wiped out the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel; Joshua utterly destroyed them with their towns. 22 None of the Anakim was left in the land of the Israelites; some remained only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal allotments. And the land had rest from war. New Revised Standard Version Liveology® Yoga Studios creates uplifting content for your whole life, drawing from spiritual traditions across the world. - Join us Live for Meditation for All | Thursday, January 11 at 7 PM EST
Join us live online. All are welcome. Join us live online for Meditation for All on Sunday, January 11 at 7 PM EST. Join people all over the world for a 20-minute meditation followed by a short offering of well-wishes. All are welcome. We will begin by focusing on the breath in the method of anapana sati. Submit your well wishes at registration or in the group chat during the session. We will read everyone's well-wishes out loud at the end. Led by Christina V. Mills. Our goal is simply to calm the inner world and create inner peace so that we can be free to experience more peace, love and joy. We believe that if more people were to meditate, we would have a more peaceful loving, and joyful world, which is why we offer Meditation for All in a pay what you can model so that no one is excluded from these beneficial practices. The suggested amount is $7, and if you are able, please support us with that amount (or more), but you can sign up with as little as $1. We are grateful for any amount. Meditation is the 7th of the 8 limbs of yoga and by far the most difficult. All we ask is that you clear your mind. Allow all thoughts to disappear, and simply follow the breath. It's deceptively simple, yet deceptively difficult. It is tempting to fall into sleepiness or what the Buddhists call "monkey mind," where the mind roams untamed from here to there, everywhere. But slowly, with patience and self-kindness, a calm and equanimous mind is possible. Here at Liveology® Yoga Studios, you can find articles and videos on all 8 limbs of yoga, but we like to focus on the more subtle practices of pranayama (breathwork), meditation, visualization, and philosophy. Meditation for All is held regularly around the New and Full moon. We also have different visualizations, breathwork, philosophy, and more View our Upcoming Events . - Invictus | William Ernest Henley
I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul. Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. - The Farmer & The Stork | Aesop's Fables
A farmer set some traps in a field which he had sown with corn to catch the cranes which had been eating up all the seed. When he returned to check his traps he was satisfied to find that he had caught several cranes. A stork was among them. The stork begged to be let go, and said, "Please don't kill me. I am not a crane, but a stork, as you can easily see by my feathers. I am the most honest and harmless of birds, as you must know." But the farmer replied, "It doesn't matter what you are. Even if you are a stork, I found you with these cranes who have been ruining my crops, and so you will receive the same punishment." - The Vegan Hood Chefs | San Francisco, CA
Revolutionizing hood nutrition. Location: San Francisco, CA Website: https://www.theveganhoodchefs.com/ Information: From The Vegan Hood Chefs The Vegan Hood Chef's mission is to honor the heritage, sacredness, and practice of cultural foods. Our goal is to increase health education and access for disenfranchised communities (particularly black and brown) through our culinary work. Ronnishia Johnson and Rheema Calloway are The Vegan Hood Chefs. They specialize in turning many of our soul food and American style favorites into delicious vegan meals. Their passion for community organizing, creativity, and food has allowed them to launch a food initiative to help fight against food justice and social inequity within the San Francisco community. These chefs have recognized how nutrition education and access to healthy foods has contributed to the health conditions of many communities of color. The chefs were motivated by the lack of access to healthy foods within their communities. - Amazing Grace | John Newton
I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind but now I see. A Christian hymn about redemption written by a former slaver in 1772. After meeting God, he became an abolitionist. Amazing grace how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me I once was lost, but now I'm found Was blind but now I see 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fears relieved How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come This grace that brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home When we've been here ten thousand years Bright, shining as the sun We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we first begun Amazing grace how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me I once was lost, but now I'm found Was blind but now I see Liveology® creates uplifting content and products for abundant life. - Freedom Through Total Forgiveness
Forgive as you are forgiven. D efinition According to Merriam-Webster, the word "forgive" means: to cease to feel resentment against (an offender) to pardon to give up resentment of or claim to requital to grant relief from payment, cancel a debt Reflection What is Forgiveness? Forgiveness implies the canceling of a debt or ceasing to have negative feelings about someone we feel has wronged us. One could say, forgiveness is "letting it go." To even understand the word "forgiveness," we have to understand those things that need to be forgiven. Forgiveness is a form of self-love and an expression of our love for others. A Two-Way Street Consider someone who has wronged you or something that has happened that you find hard to forgive. Now, consider someone you have wronged or something that you did that you know (or have a strong feeling) harmed someone else for which you never asked for forgiveness. Oftentimes, it is easy to think about every way in which we've been wronged. Our minds will remember the times we were embarrassed or had our feelings hurt. For some of us, it can be harder to remember those times we have wronged someone else. Most humans like to feel good about ourselves, which in general is healthy. This can be problematic, however, when we focus on the good things about ourselves and the bad things about other people. Often, we can become blind to our own dysfunctions or can be totally ignorant to those things that other people find totally unforgivable. I have found that forgiveness began to really sink in for me when I began to earnestly look at the ways I have been wrong, and to ask earnestly for forgiveness. Down The Rabbit Hole Simply looking at yourself truthfully can be tough. Especially in modern times, there seems to be an emphasis on only doing things that feel good and that stroke our egos. However, any type of real growth only happens when you let yourself get uncomfortable. Of course, no one wants to sit with feelings that don't feel good. This is why so many of us numb or ignore our feelings altogether. We numb our feelings with a drink or a smoke. We ignore our feelings and intrusive thoughts by immersing ourselves with media. We avoid having to sit with ourselves for too long by constantly having to be with someone or always having to talk to someone on the phone. So many of us go lifetimes without ever dealing with our true feelings or honestly assessing our shortcomings, and end up in repeating cycles, often wondering what the problem is. Those less self aware of us will point to all of the external things, attempting to uphold our perfect albeit grossly skewed view of ourselves. Though some fortunate ones, often those who are forced to sit down through imprisonment, addiction, some type failure or sickness, though some indeed have walked the path willingly, begin to see that the problem, in actually, often stems from the self. As this realization begins to dawn, one can flee and return to one's old ways and just say, " This is just how I am. It is what it is ." It is here that people double-down. They often become the most extravagant version of themselves, even if it is to their detriment. But ultimately, it doesn't matter as they have chosen to affirm their identity and would rather accept themselves as they are rather than face tremendous change, which can indeed be very difficult. For those who make this choice, that is ok. There are others who, as they begin to get a glimmer of their own dysfunction, go down the rabbit hole. While everyone's experience is different, once a person takes the leap, it can be devastating for the ego. Those who already turned back perceived this as they want to uphold the ego, which is fine. Yet the person who goes down the rabbit hole is ready to let it go. They are ready for this because they have realized on a deep level that something they are doing simply is not working and have become so fed up with whatever it is that they are willing to make drastic changes. There is a reason many people never get here and there is a reason why those who are forced to sit down through imprisonment, addiction, some type of failure or sickness, are the often ones who are fed up enough to jump down the black hole. When we're too comfortable, or the dysfunction we're experiencing doesn't feel too bad, most people don't feel enough heat to take the leap. Perhaps the land of mild dysfunction is the most sinister of them all because this is where people can remain for a lifetime, like a frog in a warm pot of water. Perhaps those who are thrown into a hot pot are the most fortunate because the choice to take the leap is more clear. The Land of Unspeakable Things Most of us live in what I call the Land of Unspeakable Things. Unspeakable Things are those things we feel so ashamed of that we can't even talk about them. If someone brings up the topic intentionally, or even if we hear about a related topic on television or in conversation, we can become triggered or even shut down. Shame is a tremendously negative emotion caused by feelings of guilt or fear of being looked down upon by others. While certainly, everyone has experienced a moment where we felt shamed by someone else, much of the shame so many of us experience comes from ourselves. Ultimately, we are the only ones who knows all of the things we have done. As long as we live in the Land of Unspeakable Things and shame ourselves, it is impossible to ask for forgiveness because we can't even be honest with ourselves about those things that need to be forgiven. As long as it is impossible for us to ask for forgiveness, it is impossible to totally forgive anyone else. This is where we hold onto the wrongs of others, pointing outwardly so that we don't have to look truthfully at ourselves. The Land of Unspeakable Things is a dark place of secrecy, where things are hidden, concealed. In this Land, the top concern is to make sure that those things that need to be hidden stay hidden. We become utterly concerned with making sure that no one knows the truth about us, so we might bend the truth, or tell people things we think they want to hear, so as not to experience shame. But if we're still scared, how do we bring ourselves to look? For me, it becomes so much easier to look once we come to a spectacular realization: the light shining in the darkness is forgiveness. God's Total Love & Forgiveness While the human mind judges ourselves, God actually doesn't offer judgement at all. God offers total love. and forgiveness. But Christina, you might say, "God judges people all throughout scripture." Yes, there are numerous times that God reveals those things that will draw us closer to God and that will separate us from God. This is what many traditions call sin. While the human mind thinks of crime and punishment, and might envision a list of this is good and that is bad, God is so much bigger than that. In my understanding, sin, or the things that someone might think God would judge us for, is simply the experience of separating ourselves from God. The sins we find in spiritual texts are guidelines to help us discern which things are more likely to draw us closer to God and which things might cause problems for us or lead us into the wilderness. Ultimately, God knows best, and we can sense in our heart whether we are close to or far from God's presence. When we are in a state of sin, or distance, we feel fearful, uneasy. We try to hide from the entity that created us, the earth, and the entire universe. It's silly when you think about it. You can't hide anything from God. It's impossible. But those who live in the Land of Unspeakable Things have so shamed themselves that they would do anything to hide from God out of fear of God's wrath and judgement. But here's the truth. God actually doesn't offer judgement. God is most merciful and offers us total forgiveness. However, there is a condition. You have to ask for it. As long as you live in things Land of Unspeakable Things, refuse to look at yourself honestly, and find it impossible to acknowledge those things you need to do better, it is impossible to be in a truthful enough place to even ask for forgiveness - we feel like we don't need it. We're the good people, remember? Everyone else are the bad ones - at least in the Land of Unspeakable Things. But in reality, all of us have fallen short, have wronged people, have done things that someone considers unforgivable. And if we're truly honest with ourselves, we are desperately in need of forgiveness. We need to forgive ourselves. There are probably a bunch of people we could ask to forgive us. And if we believe in God, we may realize that in our fear and attempt to hide ourselves in our shame, that we have run away from the one who created us and loves us the most. The funny thing is, those things we try to hide, God already knows. God is simply waiting for us to stop being so silly, thinking we can hide anything and run back into God's arms. God is waiting with open arms to give us the biggest hug and remind us that everything is ok, but we have to run toward God for that to happen. The simple act of recognizing you are in the wilderness and running toward God is the act of asking for forgiveness. It is saying, "Oops! I realized that I ran far away from you. I'm coming back." And that is it. The wild thing is, at least in my experience, those things that we consider shameful or unforgivable are actually pretty common. Once we have the strength to shine a bright light into the darkness and look at ourselves truthfully, it can feel cathartic, healing in itself. No longer do we have to contort ourselves or hide from the truth. We can finally relax. Asking for Forgiveness However, while forgiving others can be cathartic, asking for forgiveness can be even more difficult. Facing someone and admitting we have been wrong for a long period time or have been really cruel to someone can feel mortifying and impossible. But think about how good it feels when someone apologizes to you for what they have done wrong. You may be surprised to see that again, judgment comes much more from the self than it does from others. Once you get the courage to ask someone for forgiveness, they will likely be so grateful and surprised to even receive it that it creates a bridge you thought could never exist. Sure they can reject your apology, but nothing is lost. At minimum, you will certainly gain their respect, or more, a new level of friendship. Unforgiveness As we have already talked about, God is all merciful, totally forgiving. The moment you recognize something isn't right and run toward God, God is ready with open arms. There is no text anywhere in the world that depicts God as being unforgiving to those who earnestly repent or seek God's presence. That is simply not an attribute of God. Likewise, we should not cultivate the attribute of unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is toxic. So often, we hold latent grudges, believing that we are protecting ourselves or perhaps getting back at the other person. Unfortunately, it's more toxic for ourselves than it is for the other person. It is the disease of refusing to let go. Unforgiveness is literally blood poisoning that we give to ourselves, a sickness of the heart. A failure to act out of love. Forgiving Others Once we realize how good it actually feels to shine a light in the darkness and become free, it is amazing how much easier it becomes to forgive others. We realize that they are in the same predicament as us and are suffering with the same feelings of guilt, shame, and unspeakable things in such a severe way that it would cause them to harm us. And so we try not to add to these feelings, but in our freedom seek to relieve them so that they may also be free. Forgiving someone who has wronged us is the highest form of forgiveness. Now, forgiveness does not mean being a doormat or allowing people to hurt us over and over again. If a person is using your forgiveness as an license to continue their harmful behavior, that is abuse. It is entirely possible to forgive someone in your heart and also to maintain a safe physical or emotional distance from them. Freedom Forgiveness is freedom. Most of us live with baggage from the past. Baggage simply includes things that are unresolved, things we have not let go of for one reason or another. If you are experiencing blockages in your life, plateaus that you can't seem to get beyond, a very long low tide, or repeating negative patterns, consider if you are holding onto something that needs to be resolved. Many times, forgiving someone from the past or forgiving ourselves, can be just the thing to help us break though. If we have found ourselves in the wilderness, even if it is by accident, and are now scared that we have gone too far, it's never too far. There is nothing beyond the boundaries of the one who literally created the universe, and so if we find ourselves in the wilderness, all we have to do is just turn around and run into God's arms, and immediately, the nightmare is over. Scripture References The Joy of Forgiveness Hebrew Scriptures Psalm 32 0 Of David. A Maskil . 1 Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Happy are those to whom the LORD imputes no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 While I kept silence, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah 5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah 6 Therefore let all who are faithful offer prayer to you; at a time of distress, the rush of mighty waters shall not reach them. 7 You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with glad cries of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. 9 Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding, whose temper must be curbed with bit and bridle, else it will not stay near you. 10 Many are the torments of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the LORD. 11 Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart. The Gospel Matthew 6:9-14 9 “Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. 14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Quran Surah Al-Qasas 28:15-16 ˹One day˺ he entered the city unnoticed by its people.1 There he found two men fighting: one of his own people, and the other of his enemies. The man from his people called to him for help against his foe. So Moses punched him, causing his death. Moses cried, “This is from Satan’s handiwork. He is certainly a sworn, misleading enemy.” He pleaded, “My Lord! I have definitely wronged my soul, so forgive me.” So He forgave him, ˹for˺ He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. - Samsara
The endless cycle. Language Sanskrit Meaning Earth Endless cycle Information Samsara is the endless cycle of death and rebirth, a central tenet of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. It can literally refer to the earth, though there are possibly other realms in which one can be reborn, other than earth. In Samsara, beings are reborn over and over again, and family they are born to, and their life circumstances are governed by their karma, or the person's past thoughts, words, and actions. Good karma creates better life circumstances, while bad karma creates negative circumstances for one's self. While one can have a good experience in samsara, the ultimate goal, according to the aforementioned belief systems is total liberation, called moksha, from the endless cycle altogether. God time. Etymology Brahma - Creator God Muhurta - time period of 48 minutes Information Many spiritual traditions emphasize the importance of rising early during this time to cultivate a deeper sense of awareness, devotion, and clarity. Brahmamuhurta is a Sanskrit term that translates to "the time of Brahman" or "the divine hour." It consists of the two muhurtas (time periods of 48 minutes) beginning 96 minutes before sunrise. Traditionally, this time is considered highly auspicious for spiritual practices, meditation, yoga, and self-reflection due to its unique qualities and benefits. Brahmamuhurtha is an auspicious time to rise, early in the morning in yogic tradition for prayer, meditation, and other spiritual practices. God Time Brahmamuhurtha can be considered to be a time for devotion to the Creator God, but it can also be seen as a time for the human to Create him or herself for the day. Who do I want to be today? This time is said to be beneficial for spiritual practice because the energy of the world is pure and calm, and the mind is peaceful and sattvic, aiding in meditative practices. During this period, the mind is calm and less distracted, making it easier to connect with one’s inner self and engage in spiritual practices. Many practitioners of yoga and meditation incorporate rituals during Brahmamuhurta, such as physical exercise, meditation, prayer, or journaling, to set intentions for the day ahead. Mental & Physical Health In Ayurveda, Brahmamuhurtha coincides with the Vata time of day. The benefits of rising during this time include health and long life. Ayurvedic practices recommend aligning daily routines with natural rhythms, and rising during Brahmamuhurta is seen as a way to harmonize with the body’s circadian rhythms. Waking up during Brahmamuhurta can lead to improved physical and mental health. It allows individuals to start their day with mindfulness, promoting a positive mindset and increased focus.
